Trex450 vs Mini Titan E325
While it is snowing i figured i would get in some sim time and try other models. I downloaded the E325 a while back and have been using that because that is what i have. My first thought was damn this thing is super responsive compared to real life. I set up the pitch range to match my bird (+12/-12) and changed the paddle weight to get as close as i could. After a few hours i got used to it but felt it was still a little to responsive. I hate the fact that there are no other color variations. Anyway i figured i would download the Trex450SV2 to see what flying this bird is like and to mix it up a bit. I used the ones from https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=54689. I then began to fly the V2EA and it was like flying the Ion X or Trex600 in regards to response and stability compared to the mini titan.I figured there was an issue with the physics of the mini titan so i changed the basic set up to match the 450V2EA. It changed a little but not much. I have never flown a 450V2 in real life but it felt like a 600 compared to my titan and i feel that is pretty stable heli for a noob like me. So my question after my short story (Sorry) is:
1) Is the 450V2 that stable compared to a Mini Titan in real life? 2) If i can calm down the sim Mini Titan to match the sim 450V2 are there any other color schemes? My canopy is Orange, my vert fin is orange and i have yellow and orange tail blades. It sure would be nice to find something similar. Thanks for any input

OK well first of all, to put it simply, the Mini Titan (download) and the 450SEV2 are setup completely different. The Mini Titan was based off of an bigger nitro model in the simulator, and it's physics model is not very detailed. On the other hand, days worth of time were put into the 450SEV2's physics to best match them to the real thing. I would NOT count on the Mini Titan flying "like it does in the simulator" just because not much time was put into the physics of it.
As far as colorschemes go, there are none available for download right now, but I could whip up a quick one if you wanted to provide me with pictures. I must add that blade color CANNOT be changed, other than the few choices in the editor. |

trexflyer02,
Thank you for the reply. I recall reading on the KE forum that the min titan was based on a nitro so i understand the physics part being what it is or at least with my knowledge thus far. I would appreciate it beyond belief if you could whip a quick CS for me. Please see the attached picture. BTW the Trex450 and all the color schemes are amazing. My hat is off to you. Thanks again.

Consider it done. I can probably have it finished by later today if I get the time. You did download this one, right? I need to know the correct file in order to do the colorscheme.
Anyways, do you have G3.5.065? If so, your blades in RealFlight can look VERY similar to the ones in your picture. You could also buy Expansion Pack 4, which includes a better-modeled Mini Titan. |

My MiniTitan flys worlds better than the one in EP4
I had the 450sa and MT at the same time, flew them back to back and kept the mini titan. The 450SE really isn't a fair comparison with the MT because the MT is an all plastic design. Throw some GForce or Kasama parts at it then the prices match up pretty well as do the flight characteristics. IMO the MT flys without weights and with the extreme mixing setup like the rex does with weights. |

trexflyer02,
I did download the file you provided. I originally bought G3 and upgraded to G3.50.033. I have not seen an upgrade since but i could be mistaken. I am basically at the beginning stages of learning to fly so i am not sure i would notice the difference with my skills but i appreciate the advice. Thanks to both of you for the help.

Ah got it now. That is a difference. Definately more clear. I may go see if the LHS has E4. Thanks again for your help.

Hmm. Just imported into RF, and it turns out this model is mapped pretty badly. As you can see there are jagged edges that I can not make go away. If you still want it, I'll give it to you once I finish the other side, but you may want to pick up EP4, then I could do a CS for you ...
Oh, and the 3rd picture is Titan blades, Titan paddles, and white tail blades. |

That looks really really good but i can see what you mean about the edges. For the sake of saving time i will get E4 tomorrow. Will that be easier for you to base a CS on? Thanks again,

I don't have Expansion Pack 4 myself, so if you could send me the TGA file when you get it, that would be great. That's all I need!

trexflyer02,
I have never provided a tga file before using RF so let's see if this is the right one.

You got it, that's the way to do it! Never seen a TGA that was mapped from above on a helicopter, it might take a little while.
Do you like the helicopter on EP4 better? |

I couldn't figure out how to get a different angle other than above. I do have Right & Left snapshots if that would be easier.
The heli is just slightly more clear image wise and the flight characteristics are almost exactly the same. I am still palying with setttngs though. Thanks gain for your help.

The TGA file layout is created by the modeler ... there is no way to change it. I just thought it was interesting how the canopy is mapped in sections and from above in the case of the windshield. It might be a little hard, but those pictures help because now I know where the graphics go. I am pretty busy right now so it might be a little longer than expected ... but be patient and you will get what you desire
One more thing. What kind of gyro are you using? |
