Now just because you have a nice cushy very highly paid senior white collar government job that gives you 7 out of 8 hours free time a day in front of your computer to devote to helis, that doesn't mean that we're all that friggin lucky

Respect bro', much respect.

Tahiti is full of the type of guy I described and I hate them for it! I pay taxes to pay them! I was a commercial fisherman for about 15 years so tell me about the 4am to 11pm deal. More power to you brother, keep it up because it keeps you young!

Thanks Wolfie Ineed to get a decent computer and camera really, the Fuji has no zoom mode video mode what software do you use for editing?

The next day after that hovering in that wind with Grant I was able to throw it round the sky with much more confidence in the same conditions

ELATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Boys, I have been flying again!!!! Was practicing my "no thumbs" method on sim this am, is beautiful day here [about 8kts wind] and just decided to go for it. Got through 2 batteries of controlled hovering, no crashes!!!. What a great feeling!!! Since her mods, it's the first time she has flown, and yep, she flies beautifully. Ok, I need to adjust the DTS mod to get greater servo arm length, but as for balance, absolutely wonderful, and so much more responsive. WOW!!!!! Am so pleased, just a great feeling, Gotta get hold of Gerd for more batts!!!!

Mike

ps feeling like a little kid all over again!!

Raced home today filled exited anticipation, took my lovely new look Belt into the beautifully sunny and reasonably calm flying field........

And flew it straight into a tree.......

Only damage was a stripped main gear (I throttled back when I knew it was going to hit...In Idle up) , a bent fly bar and a rapped blade! so all in all I got off very lightly.

Still got to wait for the new parts and all in all that's about 20 mins flying I've had since Grant was here on Saturday, Havn't even really had time to go on the sim what with
fitting the new bits yesterday and work and spending too long on this forum

Any way always look on the bright side Eh

Love and kisses Ian

Sounds like you got off lightly! Bad luck though.

I tried my first auto's today, I wouldnt say ive perfected them LOL.
Started about 4-5 feet high and they were nice soft landings with a little lift just before the end, a few attemps later went to about 10-15 ft and a reasonable landing with slight bounces, then to about 20ft the head speed was always too low ot get a soft landing, had a pretty big bounce and landed on its side but no damage.
I'm wondering, with a 450 sized heli do you need to go much higher if your doing anything above 10-15ft so that the headspeed can increase?
I presume they only work lower as the head still has enough enertia from when it was powered?

Thanks Grant but It's not really bad luck I need to get off the forum and spend some serious time on the sim. I just Got disorientated because I havn't done enough flying this week.
I shot it straight accross the field and up to about 100 feet without taking any time to get used to it.

Durr brain

All the best with your auto rotation practise, It sound pretty scary deliberately crash landing your heli!
