Default ZYX-S and S-BUS Throttle Issue

I have the ZYX hooked up with a Futaba S-BUS per the Tarot Interface 4.0 schemetic. So the ESC gets the throttle command now via the ZYX.

But the Align ESC beeps now a whole bunch of times at startup. And then when it arms, the motor won't spin...just cog back and forth.

The ESC and motor works fine if I plug directly into the throttle channel of the Rx.

Any ideas would help greatly? Thanks!

Update - the esc/motor still beeps at startup via the zyx, but I think I might have a motor, lipo or esc issue regarding the coging. More investigating needed.

Check your bullet connectors, they may have got moved about as you re-configure your heli. Most often cogging problems have been caused by a bad solder joint on the bullet connectors in my experience

Thanks Mike for the info. The battery checks, the motor checks, connections check, but the Align BL35X ESC seems to have a problem sometimes with the slow start by cogging.

On an unrelated note, while the ZYXS is starting up for a few seconds, the ESC beeps rapidly about 27 times...at which point the ZYX is finished initializing and then the ESC will arm like normal.

I wonder if this is coming from the ESC or the ZYX? Remember, the esc is plugged directly into the ZYX. It does not do the rapid beeps when plugged into the Rx directly.

Very curious? I guess I should try another esc for giggles.

The ZYXs does not send any signal to servos or ESC during boot process, that is why the ESC beeps as it is not receiving any input. The cogging on startup could be wrong programming of ESC.

You can plug the ESC into the RX if you are not using the governor function of the ZYXs.

Thanks for that info. Also have since learned that the 35X tends to cog sometimes when set to slow start. This is a used heli, but new to me so I did not have any historical reference. Folks had a good time visiting SA , Pretoria, Good Hope, etc. last month. Cheers.

Indeed the Align 450MX motor was suspect. Either the connectors or the actual winding itself caused start-up issues. Replacing with an aftermarket motor fixed the issue.
