Default YGE mounting method , also good for broken tabs

I crashed my logo 800 this spring and broke the tab of the esc , came back fixed less the tab ( tab part of board and cost prohibitive to repair )

Long story short I got a 800 esc to put back into my 700.

From the first time I saw the tab mounted system , I wasn't crazy for it. Went with plastic bolts to help prevent damage in a crash. Helped a bit, but still got a broken tab.

This mod will need a heatsink to work. YGE heatsink is about $35 and well worth it IMO , I got 3 beep temp warnings a few times so far. I'm no pro but I have a few trick in the ole' bag.

I took some cross braces from a trex 600 heli

You will also need some 2.5mm threaded bolts. I took longer 20mm ones then cut the heads off, You can also get some of the threaded studs.

I took the bolts out of the 4 corners of the esc. I cut a X in the heatshrink then wiggled driver in and backed out screw.

Once out I heated up the heatshrink a little with a lighter , then squished it flat with my thumb. This gets the heatshrink flat. Then cleanup any heatshrink that covers the hole up . X 4 of course

Trim the plastic hex bolts to size. ~32mm shown in pics
Thread a bolt into the hex , then thread onto the heatsink and tighten up.

To test fit I put the stock posts in place , then put esc with 4 new posts in place.
Then drill some holes for 2.5mm button head bolts x 4
Take apart and remove stock mounts
Then re-assemble using 2.5mm locknuts on the button head bolts.

Plastic mounts are non conductive ( esc heatsink connects to neg )
Quite a bit more rigid of a mounting system.

IMO in the event of a crash if the top of the esc gets hit it will transfer the load to the frame so it should take a harder hit without damage.
Stock tab mounts put 100% right into the board ( $$ )

I'm going to convert my 800 now.

after i talk this idea to my friends, we find out actually that using the double side tape to attach the esc on board is ANOTHER alternative. If the reason of the existence of the mounting plastic spacers is just to help increasing the air flowing(Cooling), then you may cut the underneath board some air hole then apply some double side tape.

Qestion:
if the mounting plastic spacers are also for the purpose of avoiding elective short-cuts (this is what L700 manual says), does the double side tape still work?

Thx.
