I hope you can, the way i fly (mostly upright stuff) I can recover from a stuff up 2m off the ground, i hope the computers can do better.

I really hope its adjustable down to whatever you like, with appropriate disclaimers that setting it too low may mean it cannot recover in time.

Okay I admit calling it a cash cow is pushing it if it works as advertised in saving your heli from destruction.

I would had preferred a price point at no more than an SK-720 at the most.

I have to buy one anyway as it will help me progress like no tomorrow, but Skookum needs to look at the bigger picture:

Sales of SK-720's would skyrocket if the SK-GPS was affordable. People just getting into the hobby would have a great reason to go Skookum!

(I went Skookum due to the self-leveling and been happy with my 720's ever since)

I have the Hitec telemetry system with the GPS module but never use it.

May I ask what the benefit is to those of you who want the Skookum GPS? Just curious as maybe I am missing out on some sort of benefit I am unaware of?

@Seasick78
See my post here...
You will never crash your heli again!
At least not to a pilot error
Telemetry data is just a side effect of this Skookum GPS module.

What I would like to know is this.....

Does it still use the accelerometers in the 720?

If it does then how will it work when your vibes go over 7.

Will this be useable with the SK540 as well?

No you don't have a GPS port and there are no accelerometers there.

Hey again.

One big question just came to my mind:
Is the GPS module in any was "bound" to a specific Sk720???

As the module is so expensive I thought about the following:
Just by one GPS module and clip it on the heli I like to fly next. If the GPS module is just delivering data to the SK720 this shouldn't be a problem...

What do you think?

Lets hope Art doesn't throw a monkey wrench in our plan. I can't think of a technical necessity to bind SK720 to the GPS module.

I asked him what he is planning. Lets see if I get an answer.

Now that we all know they won't be cheap, I too have the plan to quickly swap it between machines as necessary.

Just gonna throw it out there that 10m is over 30 ft and way to high to be the lowest ceiling for the gps. That means u must fly at 50+ feet up to even attempt a funnel or piro flip or ur heli will constantly rescue itself. I'm all in but the rescue ceiling needs to be adjustable.

Between $400 and $700?
Do we have any firm price on it yet? This was all I could find in this thread.

You have to keep in mind how fast an out of control heli can move. Unfortunately, that's probably the best that can be obtained with current technology. The new heli command will have the same feature, but with a 50 foot deck.

Read thru the whole thread and now subscribed...i was in a bit of limbo on deciding on which FBL unit i wanted to get next, after my bad experience with the cx3x1000 which toasted 2 servos shortly after getting it setup and flying..i have been looking at the align aps and heard mention of skookum soon to release a gps for the 720..i have looked at the 720 for some time and heard it was a good unit.So depending on the price it might be my next fbl unit to purchase...the bailout feature is nice to have and would have came in handy once when i was flying and lost orenintation and nearly lost it in the neighbors pond but luckly managed to save it (had my finger on TH preparing for the impact) lol...please keep us updated on any thing that developes with the skookum line and especially the GPS soon to come...

thanks all...and happy flying!!

@magicmarty

You won't be disappointed by the SK720. Even as it is know the Self-Level-Bail-Out works great and saved my heli a couple of times.

With the GPS module there will be only one danger left: Mechanical fault during flight
