I´v done 450 Pro 3G and CP-II. It works fine. I have to tweak a little bit more when it gets better flight conditions, but this seemed so far beyond all expectations.

Looking forward to that I should insert a new CP-II on my 500 ESP/V-Bar Mini later this winter.

Thanks for good information on this Topic!

This is a great topic. Just what I've been looking for. I've already got the CPII but now want to go FBL and wondered if it would work. Sounds like the tough part will be finding room for the CPII & MicroBeast.

That will depend on the size helicopter your flying.

From what I've done, I can see if I remove the spacer block from under the Rx inside the frames I have the room to install the avionic computer there.
Which is the biggest challenge..

The plan is to try to shoe horn all of this into a stretched 450 pro clone with the tail servo boom mounted. I think that the boom mounted servo should give me the room needed for the CPII.

What anti rotation guide is that?

Seeking help from Mr NightFlyr:

Long time user of the CP devices. R30 came with one when I bought it several years ago, and last year when I built up my Pantera 50, I installed a CPII. Great boxes!

I had been using them as a bail out on a toggle switch keeping auto trim turned off and everything was working fine.

I just built up a .30 conversion Pantera (OS32, 550's and a Raptor 30 boom) and installed my CPII on it.
The P50 installation worked without trim or flight angles. Sensor was 23" from the main shaft.
The P30 installation is the same except for the sensor is mounted 15" from the main shaft AND I am using an SK-360 FBL system.

When I activate the CPII on the P30/FBL, it has a rear cyclic motion. (this tested in flight, on the ground as you know if it provides trim to the FBL unit, the swash will tilt to the extreme since there is no detected pitch or roll correction)

My question is where do I start in correcting this? I am assuming flight angles?
My guess is under Flight Angles > "Level Flight Pitch?>+0.0 UP", I would start changing this to a negative number to offset the aft pitching motion it has?

Am I anywhere close ?

Thanks for your assistance.

(yesterday was the maiden for this craft with the FBL and with all the changes, I was hesitant to start introducing more changes, had my hands full as it was (-: )

Dale

I assume you had the bird up and trimmed prior to installing the CPII

Your on the correct path.. but work in small changes you'll begin to see it level out

Yes, that is correct. I actually trimmed mechanically for level flight with only the FBL head, then added the SK360 to the mix, then added the CPII.( I like adding problems one at a time )

I have never had to deal with flight angles so I wanted to make sure I was on the right track. I will adjust on my next outing and post my results.

It surprised me that the difference in main sensor mounting made that much difference (15" vs 23"), especially since my R30s main sensor is only 12" back. Different canopy design but not that much different...

Thanks!

Dale

Nightflyr, Thanks for the "flight angles" tip. Today was the first time I had the chance to fly since your answer. I set the 360 to setup mode where no stabilization takes place and I tried changing flight angles on the bench. Ends up -1 degree did the trick on elevator. It now hovers with a very slight creep forward which is perfectly acceptable for me. (I can recover from a "situation" moving forward, don't want to try that in backwards flight )

Thanks again for the help,

Dale

Why the hell is the CP2 correcting rudder on my mini vbar instead of cyclic? I have it setup with a DX7 and separate receiver as the mini vbar directions say to hook it up. Any ideas?

Possible causes..

1) Wired up incorrectly

2) Setup incorrectly

So nightflyr, where do you have the 3 single lead wires out of RX A on the vbar plugged in to? Where did you plug the wire from RX B?

If you look back on this thread you'll see pics of my setup... you have to wire the VBar along with an Rx in order to have an interface point for the CPII

Thanks I looked at your setup. Still have no idea where you plugged what though. I also have the mini vbar and not a regular vbar like yours. Im thinking they are just not compatible together. I have it plugged in to a receiver just like you have yours. Guess I will just have to try to find someone who successfully hooked it up to a mini vbar.

The basic hook up should be the same....

Rx>>>>>CPII>>>>>Vbar>>>>Servos.

You MUST follow the servo path from start to finish...very easy to cross wire a setup this complex

Hello, good work guys, thanks nightflyr and other people who have tried it...

I was wondering if anyone with the hybrid on the 450 is still here, and if it's flying OK.
Maybe even someone with the ZYX FBL system has tried it?

(Technical/offtopic: Should I have not resurrected this old thread, and opened a new one instead? It would feel a bit cocky...)

Default Vbar with copilot

Hey Night. Are you going to post a how-to tutorial for the vbar/copilot combo like u did on the beastx/copilot set up. Not the Schematic but the written instruction. I just got done putting the beastx/copilot combo in my trex 500esp and since I'm a beginning pilot with limited skill set and dint have deep pockets to replace or repair I'd like to get all the help I can.

Thanks.
