I think you need some kind of unit with any flybarless head system.
Without the paddles the heli needs something to keep it from being to jumpy..

Unless your thumbs move lightning fast... your gonna need some kind of flybarless system. IMO Best bet if you already have a good tail servo, is a Skookum SK360. If you dont have a good tail servo, then the Mikadov-bar would be an even better setup... though more pricey.

That is maybe, untill Skookum comes out with the new SK720 ... From what the forum says, it's gonna be SWEET!

You don't need a stab sytem to fly FBL.
This was an experiment I tried last spring{2009}with my Caliber5. All I did was swap the stock Caliber head with an outrage FBL 50size conversion head. Kept all TX settings as the flybarred model with the pitch curves being the only setting that was re-adjusted.
Here's a stab-free FBL vid. I love it

I do plan on converting my TZv2 90 to a stab-free FBL set-up. I'll fly it with paddles for a few gallons then see how it does without the flybar.

I love the feel. Its quick, snappy, and very responsive. Its not too jumpy or hyper sensitive.

Stock mainshaft and length? Stock swashplate balls fit the follower and control links?

If you want to go flybarless right now you can not beat the Align unit. Use the conversion for a T-rex 600. It has everything for around $400. Killer deal for flybarless.
