Angry Futaba says "BLS451 NOT for heli use"!!!

Found this on the OtheRR forum. Apparently all of us who are using BLS 451's on our bird's aren't going to be getting any support from Futaba as their engineers state this servo was NOT designed for heli use!!

Quotes and link to thread below.

BLS451 Glitching

Whirlybird,

The BLS451 is designed by Futaba for use in Nitro or Electric cars, they are not precise enough for the demands of heli flight.

The only brushless servo we offer at the moment for heli use is the BLS251.

Futaba's literature and their engineers will recommend this for cars, as for the page listing that you refer to, I will contact the Web people and have them lock this out of that site. But, if you will go to the servo site:
http://www.futaba-rc.com/servos/index.html

and click on Brushless servos:
http://www.futaba-rc.com/servos/brushlessservos.html

Then read down where it mentions that you can read the Technical Notes by clicking on the stock number, you will read that this is intended for cars.

We try to make as much information available as we can to our customers regarding our products. Futaba always designs with specifics in mind and cannot control how they are eventually used.

Send the servo's back, if you follow that thread on RR a person called Futaba service center and they told him that they are still good for Heli's and to use them. Read between the lines, that would make them used and not returnable. remember when JR had a problem with the 8411 and they replaced them all with 8311's no questions asked. Maybe Futaba should stand behind the product like JR.

my friend used it on vibe50 heli, not single problem. people been using servo design for rc car on heli for age now. 9650 not design for heli either, but it most popular servo on 450 tail and 500 heli all around. 9257 just clone of 9650 with a different gear . if i am not wrong Finless Bob use Jr rc car servo on 1 of his nitro heli also.

Yep, got a set of three in my Caliber 90 FAI ship. Also use the BLS251 tail servo.

However, the latest Brushless Servo from Futaba, specifically for helis, is the BLS252. I guess it's a cross between a BLS451 and a 9252.

Post BLS451 for Heli use - Good or Bad?

What's the Verdict on the BLS451 for Heli use - Good or Bad???

Am considering the BLS451's over the Futaba BLS352 for my T-600e cyclic, not sure if this is a good decision. Anyone experienced any trouble from using the BLS451's on their cyclic?

Using them on the Compass Knight 600e cyclic. A friend is using them on a T-700 cyclic @ 8volts.... no problem.

They are fine for heli use (and work very well in heli's). That post by Krysta was an older post and she was going on a recommended application chart at the time. The post caused quite a stir at the time, but it was incorrect.
