Having bent the flybar and possibly the main rotor shaft I decided to have a go at replacing them.
I tried to unscrew the guide ball part that attaches to the center of the flybar but both the little ball link things just snapped off

Is it normal for this to happen? I assume they are locktighted in, or they have a left hand thread

Anyhow it is knackered now and I have some replacement bits, looks like I will have to cut the old flybar to pieces to get it out!

Is there any knack to removing the rotor shaft? I unscrewed the little screw inside the blade grips but they didnt want to pull off the shaft. I didnt try to hard incase I smashed something else to bits so thought I would ask on here first

The blade grips should just pull apart, sometimes you have to give them a tug. I would unscrew both blade grips from the control arms first.

Thanks for the advice, Ill remove them first.
I replaced the control arms with the metal upgrades since the plastic ones didnt last too long!

Did you have the same problem at all trying to remove the guide ball from the flybar?

I haven't had to replace the flybar yet, but I have heard it's common for these screws to snap off, I think they must use too strong a locktite or something at the factory

Has anyone figured out how to replace the flybar or install a flybar into a new head?

I bought a plastic head to replace my metal one but I cant get the flybar out of the old guide ball that is still inside the metal head. I was able to remove the two ball links on the side of the guide ball but the flybar itself won't budge at all.

After you remove the linkage connect the flybar to the control arm the only screws left to hold the flybar is the little metal balls in the middle the flybar, remove them and the flybar should come out. As walkera factory use thread lock at the metal balls the flybar may sometime glued to the middle guild ball. Give it a hard pull and the flybar should come out.

It must have been the factory threadlock holding the flybar in. I ended up having to heat up the metal head with the flybar guide ball inside to pull out the flybar. Now it has a slight bend in it but at least I was able to use the guide ball in my new plastic head.

I am having trouble replacing the flybar too. The center ball that is glued to the flybar annoys me. I don't want to heat it up because there are too many tiny plastic parts around it and I am afraid of deforming it. Is there anther way for replacing the flybar? A smarter way perhaps, rather than just pulling it with brutal force in heat?

Do we need to re-glue that center ball the the flybar after replacement? coz otherwise it can't enture the flybar is always balacned and centered.

Repalcing the flybar is very annoying, more than anything else, i find. especially when the center ball is stuck inside and glued to the flybar. I dont want to use brutal force because it may break the intricate parts of the rotor head. What should I do?

Maybe you could use a soldering iron to heat up just the ball without heating up the plastic head around it, and then pull out the flybar?

I've ruined quite a few Walkera installed parts trying to remove them. I guess they would rather be safe than sorry, so they use a very strong thread lock. If you damage it during the removal process, know that when you reassemble it with new replacement parts, you won't tighten it as much, thus making it much easier to remove the next time. What Walkera really should do is offer the helis as an unassembled kit!
