I'd pay more for the helicopter if they'd lose the music. If there was ever a video where we DIDN'T need music (I'd like to hear the pilots and the bird, please)...sheesh.

Still. Can't wait.

Considering the blade length is the same as the Lepton 3200 4S is going tobe a short flight. I ran 4S 3700's in my lepton and got 5 minutes.
6S looks like it might be the ticket

I think they need to work on the gears more. That whine goes right threw me.

Looks like a great size though. Good power and agility. Auto looked a bit short but Im sure this is a preproduction bird there testing out.

fwiw...

I really want this to be a winner...But based on my less than happy experiences with the lepton, and the weight similarities, I have a nasty feeling that if they go to final production with this heli we'll still have an overweight heli with short durations and limited auto capabilities..If the goal is using two 450 packs, the heli simply can't weigh much more than 1500 G AUW..
I realize this is preproduction, but it's off the mark I was hoping for..

I think 5s-6s will hit the spot. Aron Shell has his lepton on 5s and its a rocket. The 6s vid shows same performance as a 600 on 10s.

Yeah, looks like the (2) Flightpower EVO25 450 packs may just work with the 425mm blades. Of course gearing and motor choice will play into this as well.

Hmmm, I'd want to use my existing 4S 2200 packs. Thats not gonna have enough capacity, so I'll be waiting to see if anyone does a 8S 2200 setup using one of the larger Medusa or Neu motors. Now that would be a hot hot hot setup. I see the stock 4S setup is fully 3D capable for a few minutes and the 6S is smokin', but again they not airborne for long are they.
So, yeah, 8S 2200 would give, I guess, longer flights without losing punch - a bit like using 4S on the ol' 450 bird!
Still its early days and I am sure that loads of inventive folk are gonna be heavily modding their 500s - j8ust like we do the 450. Just gotta wait and see what the best motor/batt/ esc combo turns out to be.........

I dont think you have to wait to long Rick.

As soon as I get my grubby hands on aTRex500 I will be going to 8S (because I can) . Hopefully my TP2100PL's will stand up to the abuse.

I will run My Jazz 55-10-32 that I will strip out of the HDX500.

Just have to investigate Motors, I am considering if the Hyperon I have will handle 8S (the makers say it wont but what do they know?)

MIck
