Yep that's how if works on mine, if I spin it up while its on the main start screen the lower line changes to an RPM readout, and once I stop it returns to the default start up screen. Then if I hit Mode +1 it shows the max rpm.

Or if I spin it up on the Max RPM screen it advances from zero to the max rpm and then stays there.

I was pretty confident it worked, I checked it a couple of times at the field.

Ok, so i'm pretty sure I figured it out. With 1.4 as soon as you turn it off you lose your max rpm record.
With 1.31 max rpm would stay there until you zeroed it.
So before I could power off after landing, go back to pits, remove canopy power up and check last flight rpm.
Now will have to remember not to power off if I want to check last flight.

1.4 still better, BUT I vote for a 1.41 to fix this
