I'm not sure it's good form to come on one company's subforum and tell people to buy a different company's competing products, but I'm not the forum police.

Anyway, TelMe modules have not been released yet. From everything I've heard, it should be soon.

I'm not addressed but will respond anyway:

I do not think that it breaks "etiquette", except perhaps if I as a developer of JLog say something about it. A forum is indeed there to advise each other, share experiences, make recommendations.

One must also look at the history:

JLog started as a device which revaluates the Kontronik JIVE by logging. Furthermore, as a gateway into a growing number of telemetry systems, today 8 +1. That way K's JIVE was the FIRST ESC at all with telemetry capabilities (by JLog).

Only then followed ESCs from other manufacturers as a virtual multi-sensor to JLog, as input for logging and telemetry. JLog-own sensors were always just a supplement.

(As you might still remember, I was the one who replaced missing K support here in the forum. Yeah, I had protested directly at Will when he opened this board because I just did not have the capacity to continue that way. First later (and thankfully) K then had his platform in the U.S. expanded, so I am not more than user today in this board.)

Kontronik's KOSMIK appeared. The KOSMIK has its own logging. The developer of the JLog (I ) was the one who took care volunteer that KOSMIK users could read the logs. It was also a workaround because the KOSMIK does/did (does w/o a BT module) not log real speeds but only a 2-pole-normalized rpm.

Kontronik brought TelMe as telemetry interface, until now for only two telemetry systems, Graupner/SJ HoTTv4 and Multiplex (MSB). More than one year that was not or only partially usable. For HoTT the KOSMIK was implemented as outdated HoTT sensor "ESC". Both implementations did not support alarms. RPM sent was (and is, without having a BT module) virtually unusable.

Almost at the same time JLog implemented the KOSMIK simply as the next multi-sensor. Result: All telemetry systems, alarms, real speeds, logging with real speeds and many derived values, plus optional data from other sensors of interest.

Want to say:
- "Competitor" is a word that does not fit so well. It was/is often more "supporter".
- The level of competing products is so different than they do not compete in the same class against one another to this day.
(Too bad that K opted for the second time against cooperation. Pity that commerce triumphed over user satisfaction.)

When a user as "nuroo" posts "+1": He has SPEKTRUM telemetry, as if he were standing in the forest w/ TelMe. Other users have JETI, FrSky, JR, HiTec and , yes , Futaba.

Your post did not address directly me. Nevertheless want to quote a German saying:
Ingratitude is the world's reward.

---
This board has now developed its "own culture". I think this post should have been my last participation.

Tom, I think those of us who have used Helifreak for many years have seen the colossal amount of work you do over several series of threads, related both to your own interests, and purely and impartially to help others out.
I am always amazed that you are able to find the time to offer the in-depth, and considered help and support that you do, frequently having to repeat that same or similar support countless times over.
Your help has been absolutely invaluable to so many people, and it would be an utter calamity if you were to stop.
Your assistance has always been impartial, positive, and detailed. Please accept our sincere thanks for all that you do, and hopefully will feel able to continue to do, as a highly respected member of our aeromodelling community, whose traditional values have always included supporting each other. I know I would represent the vast majority of us in repeating our continuing thanks for all that you do.
PS - As a foot note, despite still awaiting the release of the TelMe for the Futaba, as referred to in my last entry of my thread 'Futaba TelMe release date?', I have also purchased and am eagerly awaiting a JLog2.6 from Germany. Most of this decision has been on the basis of your continuing support in these threads. By the way most of my family are around Herrsching am Ammersee, even though I am in Melbourne Australia, where abouts are you?

No Tom, don't leave on some thoughtless post.
You are a wealth of knowledge on all things electronic and a great support for 'K' users.

I consider having the SUPPORT of the JLog product to be a huge advantage for Kontronik. Epically huge! Without it all of us Jeti users wouldn't have been able to hit the ground running with our telemetry gear and a bunch of Futaba 18MZ owners and many other TX's etc would have had NOTHING if it wasn't for the JLog devices.

These JLog devices support BOTH the old Jives and the Kosmiks and allow more mobility for changing TX/Receivers by supporting them all in a single device.

We have already seen that Kontronik makes GREAT ESC's and GREAT Motors, BUT their programming interfaces have been pretty rough and only within the last year have they come out with anything that is reasonable to use. The fact is that they are dipping their toes in the waters for telemetry a little too little and a little too late.

These are commonly held beliefs by all the Kontronik users I know.

Tom, has done a great service for Kontroniks users and made our Kontronik ESC's much more valuable to us.

For the record, I think Tom may have blown my comment (I assume he was responding to my comment?) way out of proportion. I said nothing to or about him and honestly was completely shocked that anyone would be so put off by what I wrote. And of course I am very sorry if I offended or upset anyone, that certainly was not the intent.

Also I had no idea about history of the JLog and its relationship to Kontronik or to Tom's involvement in this subforum - nor did I know it was relevant, since I wasn't addressing Tom. I didn't even know his name until this thread!

It seems like there's more going on than I realize and somehow I became the straw that broke the camel's back. Well let me be clear, I will gladly remove my straw and do whatever I can to restore said camel. I have absolutely no ill will toward anyone in here.

Please carry on and ignore the ignoramus in the corner (that would be me.) I am truly sorry.

Don't worry hemp, it has been a sore point for quite some time, you weren't to know.
Tom has, as he has said, put a lot of work into supporting Kontronik customers when they had little or no support of their own to offer, and has produced a product that has made the Kontronik esc devices so much more serviceable to so many people, and at the same time had very little support or encouragement from them.
I just find it almost impossible to comprehend how he has managed to reply to so many people, so frequently, without virtually spending every waking moment of the day doing it.
I think sometimes that Tom's English has let him down on occasions, and made him sound a little different from the way he would like to portray himself. I apologise to Tom for saying this, but I know as his 'other' language, he wishes that this difficult issue of having to offer translations would just go away sometimes. However, I would say that Tom, your English is far better than my german as my second language!
Hemp, do not worry. Just understand the huge contribution that Tom has made to our enjoyment, and Tom, again, I apologise for 'speaking for you'.
Regards,
Andy

I thank you all!
Let's leave it at that, please. I am still in HF, in the JLog support board.

I was never equated with Kontronik. But I also never stood outside. Therefore, I once said that I am "hermaphrodite" what many amused. By JLog./.TelMe, who knows, maybe soon also in ESC, I'm identified by others with a different role. Now that have created a schizophrenic situation which I want and will avoid. Quite simple, nothing emotional.

Language - what you mentioned Andrew: You will not believe this but I express myself in German as well that "flowery/figuratively" when I post in a forum. Of course it's not my native language. Therefore "figuratively expressing" is even more difficult.
Also, I like to use idioms and proverbs. This is of course the most difficult in a foreign language.
Just to practice again: Sayings are jewelry on nightgown.

Thank you Tom,
When my English is in full flight, many do not understand what I mean either, I think much of my language is now quite antiquated. However, I think it is a personal crusade to maintain the etiquette of some of my father's English.
This is all very silly, and highly off topic.
My grandfather used to use the expression 'Käses Rundfahrt'.
Sorry everyone!

Default Graupner telme

I have a graupner telme and my rpm is reading 96,000. Does anyone know how to change it to give me correct readings?

Thanks!

The KOSMIK gives a 2-pole-normalized rpm out.
Motor's pole number and ratio is not taken into account.

To change it for viewing of KOSMIK's log only: You need a specific LogView device definition file.

To change that for your HoTT telemetry via TelMe: You need a Kontronik BT module to set up pole number and ratio inside the KOSMIK. This works for KOSMIK's log (.dat) as well as for telemetry via TelMe.

(Another alternative: JLog.)

Default BT Module

Thank you for getting back to me with this info. I will be getting a BT module later in the mail and have already downloaded the app. The Kosmik should already have the correct pole number already through programming, correct? I see there is a section for gear ratio, which I figured would be the area, I would adjust for the correct headspeed.

Yep.

No idea..
Maybe someone from the Kontronik team can answer the question.

(JLog as "TelMe" supports Multiplex (IISI via their MSB gateway), HoTT, JETI EX, Futaba, JR, SPEKTRUM, HiTec, FrSky S.Port.)
