Default Amplified recivers?

Ok this is probably a very noob question, but I was looking at this receiver:

2.4G 6CH S603 Receiver Supported JR Spektrun DSM-X DSM2 Transmitter
Found here:
http://www.amazon.com/Receiver-Suppo.../dp/B00RBUIRF2

And it said it had a "special 3dbi gain antenna, with amplifier of 15dbi gain insided" So I kind of always though you amplified the transmitter not so much the receiver??? So I guess what does this mean and how does it help?! Does this really help with distance/better signal? It states it has Stronger anti-interference,further distances And if so, why are receivers not talk about more with upgrading/amplifying them? Could someone please shine some light on this for me!! Thanks!

Default

It means the receiver section takes a normal 3db input and runs it through a amp to boost the signal by 5db.

This is normal receiver technology.

The the amp will add gain to a weak raw signal (longer distance away from the TX) not add gain if the raw signal is at a decent level.
