I just got home from my Medusa maiden flight. I got the 36-050-16002v-5 with a CC80 and a 13t. It tached at 2850 with a 100% flat throttle curve. This heli had lots of power. This motor is unbogable. I was doing full collective -14/+14 tic tocs to see if i could bog it. And i couldnt. This Motor really woke up the 500. Motor temps with no head sink are the same as the 500L, in my case 125-135Fof hard 3D. And only 110F of easy smooth 3D with FF. Lipo temps were the same as the 500L at 125F. Flight times were also the same as the 500L, IN my case it was 4 minutes of smooth 3D or 3:30 of hard 3D with 2-2200 kongs. This motor is more effient and flys stronger then my friends Scorpion 1400KV. But as we all know its about set up too.

Default Haven't seen any data on 2 11V in series

I really like the idea of using two 2100 3S in series, but I haven’t really read any specific pros or cons about the usage. I have a two planks and a 450 that use that size battery. My thought would be to just buy more and put them together so I can interchange them as needed. But, I really haven’t read anyone trying this. Any thoughts Finnless?

the packs need to be matched or you'll smoke the weaker one.
Useing a new pack and an identical one with say 100 flights on it is going to toast the older one it your not careful.
2 new ones should be NP.

I dono why you guys would want to do 8s setups or scorpion motors. the stock setup on a single 6s 2500 is amazing, tons of power and headspeed, ticktocks soo easy. the align 6s 2500s with the stock motor and esc are sweet, and the batteries have an awesome price.

Thanks Michael. I have 3 older ones and just bought a new one about 3 weeks ago. I would probaly buy a few more new ones to keep in mind what you said. Only pair the older ones together and keep the newer ones together.

Thanks again.

I've read through this, and maybe I missed it somewhere, but has anybody tried the Thunder Power eXtreme V2 22OO 6S1P 25C setup on the stock motor?

I flew them. They felt the same as my two 2200 Kongs. The 6s 2200 TP V2 was very small and light compared to the 2 kongs. But they flew the same.

i finally got around to tach'ing the headspeed on my 500 with the medusa 1600v2. stock 500l governed at 87% tach'ed at 2730 with a fresh pack. medusa 1600 v2 governed at 87% tach'ed at 2850 with a fresh pack. seems the 500l doesn't play well with a jazz esc. more power for me! Both were with a 13t pinion.

Hey the 600XL has TONS OF POWER!. Its a little hard on the pack. But its STRONG!. I just Put a Scorpion 1400 with a 15T at 100%. And its pretty weak IMHO, when Compared to the Medusa (36-50-1600) and the 600XL.......hmmmmm..... how about the 36-60-1600.. its designed for the 600.. but hey i did put a 600Xl in mine.. I may try it.

I get 3:20 of hard flight out of the Stock L, the Medusa 50-1600, the 600L, and the Scorpion 1400kv. I Would get 3 minutes of hard flight out of the 600XL.

I tried out my 4s3600FP's today and theres just not enough power on 17t pinion. I cant seem to get any larger pinions in Australia either.

Here's another data point for the 8s scorpion 1210 kv motor, 14T, two 4S 2100 FlightPower Evo Lite 20C packs, Jazz 55 in governor mode with a 74% flat throttle curve in IU2. Flight time seems to be around 3 and a half minutes, I might add 10 or 15 seconds if it's not being flown really hard.

This was a test flight in Huntsville this weekend (hence the landings and the gaps in the graph). We kept tweaking things and going up again; nearly flew too long, but the batteries are fine; I flew them again today. I only have about a dozen flights on the new 500 but I already like it. A lot ! Props to SmokenJoe50 for the 8s inspiration. Thanks to the Align pilot for flying it and doing the tweaking.

In other tests when playing with the throttle curves, the motor easily spun the blades above 3000 rpm; however, it just sounded too vicious for my taste. I can't wait to get some more flights on it.

You really should consider the 13tooth at 90%...like I mentioned in another post The power is the same with my HS at 2910, and I get a solid 4.5 minutes, sometimes pushing it to 5, and I have yet to put back more than 1600mah....The amp draw is lower also and everything is more efficient running it at 90% instead of in the 70's. I have over 140 flights running this configuration....on a side note I just snuck in 2 test hovers of a new NEU motor that I am testing for Steve NEU....Hopefully tomorrow I will get a bunch of flights on it with my Eagletree, and can do some comparing to the Scorpion...I have been happy with the Scorpion so far, but this new motor looks pretty darn promising....so far looks like more power with less mah consumption, and it's much much quieter, lighter, and...sounds awesome.....I hope to do a full review once my testing is complete, as there are a couple options for both the 6s and 8s setups....

Cool keep use posted. Too bad you are so far away. I would love to see that motor in action.

You are more than welcome to come fly with us....There is about 5-6 of us who primarily flew at the Chula Vista field, but now we fly out of the east end of the 905, it's really nice tons of space to fly and barbecue....We are planning on going out there in the morning....you should bring your 500.....Jake

Default kong power and rex 500

hi guys

Has anybody used a 2 x 2200mah 25c 3S kong power setup on the 500?

Is this a viable alternative?
