Really liked how it turned out, Setup took a while, but just done my 250 in about a quarter of the time. Flies really nice.

Just noticed i need to change my avatar!!,

PS just sold my old head and 401 on ebay it almost covered the cost of the beast, if your gona get FBL go quick while the market still gives a good price for gyros before it gets flooded FBL is the future......

Looks real good. First glance I thought where's all his wiring. Very neat job tucking it all away.

Had my maiden voyage yesterday, had a couple very short flights but they went very well. Figured I would share my wiring and say thanks to all on here, don't think it would have went so well if not for all the info on this forum. May make a couple changes to the wiring once I get my 250 built.

Nice work! Do you find that the gyro/rx strap accidentally pushes the gyro's Set button? Also, what did you use to hold the rx under the shelf? Velcro? Finally, I re: running the front cycle servo wires on the inside, did that make you nervous having them close to the shaft and gears? Does it make changing out servos harder? Thanks for sharing!

Hey Matthew, I supposin your talkin about my bird. I used double side servo tape to glue the rx and 3g controller down, was using align velcro straps but changed to zip ties to secure them better. All wires are protected from rubbing (see pics) Yes harnessing wires makes changing servos a PIA. My 3g sensor works better without a strap.

Thanks very much for the pics. Re: ESC placement, on my Sport, putting it like you did would make the capacitors *very* close to the bottom of the motor - within ~1mm! Are you concerned?

When I was using the se v2 frame it was a very tight fit, but if you secure it down with sticky back velcro or servo tape and then strap it down it will not move. I would not mount it with caps within 1mm motor thou! My frame was modified with microheli 450 Pro lower frame to allow more room for components. The main reason I did it this way is the ballance of the heli and I dont like components outside of frame. As you can see the V2 Scorp commander 55 is is a monster and fills the se v2 frame. Ithink I had like 5 or 6mm clearance between motor and esc caps with the stock frame.
(note) Mounting the gyro so close to esc is not recomended by align but I have not had any problems from doing so.... Might be because CF tray blocks RF???

*is it bad to do this? and why? what problems does it cause ?
I havent had any problems yet but only got a few flights in with it since set up (mostly hovering )

If the outside of motor can spins you could possibly hit the caps against the motor and destroy your esc in a crash. Push up on the esc see if it hits. IMO

Be careful the motor doesn't dig into those capacitors. My friend had that happen, it was a on a 500, but still.

so the "rub factor" is the only reason for concern ? cool, my motor spins internaly
just making sure it's not a "feed back" issue .

I attempted running wiring inside the frames, but ape-sized paws, 50+ year old vision, and limited patience all added up to insurmountable frustration... I figure external wiring runs will be easier for inspection and maintenance anyways

Nice work! I'm 49 in Oct, and I totally understand working with "maturing" vision. Here's to trying something new and challenging.

Hi Guys. Attached are annotated pics of my first ever build. I've only been flying for ~2 months. Building was very satisfying. I literally know every single part in the bird, which is paying off on my first crash yesterday. I was surprised that deciding electronics placement and wiring was one of the hardest things to decide. I did a lot of research here on HF and came up with this solution. I was a bit amazed that Align didn't specify these in detail. Part of the art of the craft, it seems. All in all, I'm happy with the choices and work I did.

You can get away with a lot with todays electronics but it's nice to see and it may help you avoid annoying costly glitches!

For you guys with Futaba Receivers with the long antenna's, I'm a little concerned about running them parallel to CF. If you have no issues then don't worry about it. If you do, consider moving them a bit away from the CF and try not to be right parallel to it.
