The orange cone in kyle's xxtreme video :)

Ok maybe its only me thinkin about this, but i wanted to share it with you guys.

Everyone here knows how good and precise kyle flies,
In my opinion he is the most precise 3d pilot,
Again in my opinion, but i think many of the freaks here will agree with me about this.

Anyway...
Today when i was watching kyle's xxtreme video ( maybe for the 17th time ) lol
I realized there was an orange cone facing to him, and most of the on spot maneuvers were done over it or as close to it.
Ok here is the question
Is this cone there for training purposes?

My guess would be yes, it's very easy while doing training to not center the moves infront of you, having a point of reference helps a lot.

Yes, the cone is there so Kyle can see in his peripheral vision where center-line is. It's there all the time (not just for the video), for training purposes.

And, if he's toooo far off center, I stand behind him and hit him on the top of his head with a yard stick (-:

I think it's cool you take such an active role in Kyle's Sport/Hobby.
My old man just told what a waste of money my RC passion was, oh well.

Me. R/C helis has been my hobby now for 33 years. Hovered my first heli in 1978.

Back then, if you could hover, get into forward flight and fly a figure 8, bring it back and transition from forward flight back to a hover, and land without crashing, you were THE KING at the field. How things have changed.

Kyle just grew-up around R/C modeling. Soled an R/C trainer @ age 5, was hovering helis @ age 7, and was out-flying me about age 10.

I still fly some, but I'm mostly now the chief of a one man pit crew, the transportation director, coach, finance minister, parts manager, mechanic, electrician, chief critic and water boy.

And my opinion and I think many will think alike, you and Kyle being around the forums so much with a lot of useful information, and sometimes fun information, makes A LOT of difference to the Mikado community when compared to other companies. Keep it up!

Funny Dave I did not pick up on that at all when I was there. I flew in that exact spot when we where tweaking my L400 (don't remember if you had a yardstick in hand.) and all I thought was this cone is in my way LOL... Well just go to show the difference between how a prodigy like Kyle thinks when he fly's and someone who's only been flying a few years thinks.

Your posts are always very helpful and clear. You must be very proud of your son, he is a fantastic pilot. I'm sure it must also be very rewarding to spend time with your son sharing this hobby. As father also, I think it must just be great to be able to spend so much time with your son doing something you both enjoy. To me, that would be even more impressive than your son's great skills.
