Fast and Xxtreme will never go in the same sentence. (unless they are running higher than the recommended 1800rpm )

Haaaaaaa!!! Danny, that made me laugh!! It's width is what causes the drag though. And 2 gazillion weird holes on the front for ventilation. It's like dragging a kite while you fly. Seen from the back while flying with the round top and wide enough to cover the saucepan of a main gear it looks like a turtle, I always thought "turtle" since the first time I saw it. However that anchor is actually useful in flight, all maneuvers have very constant speed as opposed to the TDR which slides and accelerates very quickly as soon as you apply collective on sharp banked turns. I still am getting used to this unique quality in the TDR's flight envelope. Specially regarding this high or low drag property, you take advantage of each one when drawing maneuvers in flight. I loved how the XX flies.

Wow, our little off-topic thread has been dormant for a while!

So, to get it going once again -- remind me to never try an Align 800MX in my TDR or any of my other helis... Actually, no need to remind me. (There's an announcement about these tests by Georges Van Gansen on one of the heli daily .com news sites but I don't think I can post the URL here).

those videos are certainly doing the rounds and getting people's backs up. Without an independent assessment, it means nothing to me.

Still, i've neever seen a motor go pooof.

Now, can i take this opportunity to state that putting the decals on the canopy is a major ball ache - thought i had a nice finish with virtually all bubbles gone, only to place in the airing cupboard for a whole bunch more to appear.

I had that happen also. It looked all nice and smooth until I went back the next day. I took a pin to the worst couple, but after a while, the small ones disappeared. I assume the air finally made it's way out through the canopy or the decal.

As Georges said when he released the videos, it's an easy test for anyone to reproduce. Of course, no one knows how many Align motors he tested; we're seeing only one sample/data point here... That said, IMO Georges is one of the good guys in this hobby, and I highly doubt he'd (falsely) rig these tests to prove a point.

Just got back from Charleston,SC and the SK-GPS for my TDR arrived, but I need to go to the Post Office to pick it up.

Meanwhile I've had email after email with Fed Ex having to do with my Revolectrix 12S batteries. I don't believe the issue has been resolved yet, so I'm not sure that they have all the issues ironed out with regard to their new lower cost shipping through FedEx from Singapore. I'm really looking forward to trying out these batteries.

I have a Fed Ex package waiting for me at which may be the Revoletrix carry case for my E5, otherwise I'm pretty sure it isn't the batteries yet based on the emails.

Fingers crossed it should be another week or soon after that my DS-16 will be coming.

I can't wait to get rid of all of my DSMX satellites and have serious telemetry!

Glad to see you are supporting our economy, it is usually the other way around.
I want to get it too, but DX7 is still working well and since i do not have Kontronik ESC with JLog, telemetry is not so much interesting.

Looking forward to seeing how you'll install the SK-GPS on your TDR. I'd like to have a TDR with this gps too.

Groucho already came up with a good solution.

However I'm going another route.

The irony is that I approached Rob about making something custom for the TDR based on Groucho's solution, but have a solution that works great and is very inexpensive, very clean, flexible for most all helis and fairly readily available.

I have two helis with Jive ESC's, but my next ESC will probably be a Jeti Mezon, but we will see..

With the Mezon you get all the telemetry without a JLog and just a single cable from the ESC to the Jeti Duplex receiver. It's a very clean and simple solution.

Yes, but since i have upgraded YGE, my plan is to go 16S just because i can. And no other ESC seems to offer that...

I just had a look at what Groucho did. Clever.. I like what he did with the lego blocks

Would be interesting to know what your solution is.

I'm going to a simple boom installation.

There are 1" square zip tie mounts. I got 100 for $17. They are pretty much universal for this application.
