Default CC Ice 2 80HV ?

Hi,

Does anyone know if this will work for the X5 and will it fit in the bottom?

Or do you really need at least a 100 amp ESC?

Using stock motor, bls 251, savox 1258 cyclic, mini v, 2 sats

I was able to squeeze a CC Edge 100 in between the frame halves....just barely. I think the 80HV is close to the same dimensions, but that would be easy enough to cross reference....it needs to be at least as narrow as the CC Edge 100.

However if you're running 6S I think it would be wise to go with a 100A controller. I think you can get away with the 80HV if you're running 12S.

+1 on the Edge 100 (full, not Lite) just barely fitting between the frames. Did mine recently. If yours is thicker, you will run out of width quickly.

Are you going 12S? I don't fly that hard, and only 2300 governed, but I've had a 130A spike already. On 6S, 80A would be somewhat small. Fine on 12S, though.

I ran an 80hv for 2 years. First year on 6s and 2nd year on 12s. It never failed. Stuck it to the side of the frame under the gear

Yes, currently using Set RPM, on the latest FW (4.19?). It seems pretty good to me, but I'm no expert.

I may try my iKon's governor in the future, but I'm not looking to further-complicate things at the moment.

I've run the Castle gov on other helis and it's really good for an ESC based governor. But if I have a flight controller that has external governor functionality I prefer that...Mini VBar on my X5 and Ikon on my 450X running through Castle ESCs. The Edge series ESCs make that pretty easy since they have that AUX output for the RPM signal as well as the "external governor" throttle mode.
