I had mine out for a few packs the other day. The tail and aileron channels were incredibly locked on. The elevator however had a terrible bounce. We're talking 45* or so. If I hammered fore or aft elevator and let go the tail would return to approximately the original position.

I was running FB blades on a 450. Vibe log showed in the green, forgot exact figures though. I tried tweaking elevator gain and cyclic stop.

My third pack it came at me uncommanded elevator backflip. I held push elevator and it uncommanded forward flipped, slowly, right onto the rotor disc. Stripped two MG servos and broke a control horn.

I am unsure of what happened here. Anyone else with elevator bounce issues?

If I set the cyclic gain through the radio, I then adjust via subtrims?

How does the dual bus work for tail sevo? I have an old 8700g I want to use but 4.8v servo. Also it is not digital. Will I have issues using this with robird or can I select voltage and servo type for tail?

You have a couple of options (at least) - you could simply use a voltage reducing lead like this http://www.ac-rc.com/product_info.ph...2sb8sfvfk3n6u7 in-line with servo lead.

Or alternatively, the tail servo takes it's power from the Rudd cable, you could split the lead and take the signal from the white lead from the FBL unit and the red and black from a separate 4.8V source (a BEC for example)

I was looking at getting HV cyclic servos with a direct 2s lipo. The robird discription say dual bus. That kind of makes me think you can select 2 different voltages. Just trying to figure if it is worth the hastle of trying to use this older servo. It's sitting on the bench and I don't want to have to spend another $150 on a HV tail servo.

Cyclic servo power bus is separate from the tail bus. So you can run hv cyclics and standard tail.
I think you'll have to use seperate power source to the tail power port on the Robird, much like when your running dual satellites. You may be able to use the same and just use a step down as well.

Got mine out today and let my buddy do a stress test. Tail hold was awesome. He done some fast tic tocs, wide funnels...tail never budged. We shot a vid of the first flight using the stock 3D settings. The piro speed was a little slower cw and it had a slight elevator bounce in the tic tocs. We tuned the tail speed and got it evened up, got the elevator bounce out for rhe most part. We stopped for the day because we had a run of bad luck with the rest of the fleet.
His got the vid, I'll post as soon as he uploads.

So far Im loving the Robird

I finally had a chance to fly mine tonight indoors. I had live vibe analysis up and was very concerned with all the red bars I was seeing. However, after getting it off the ground and coming back to take a look at the logs, it was much better looking.

It performed as well on my 250 as my BX did. I do have the notorious tail wiggle but either I will live with it or upgrade the tail servo.

I still have more tweaking to do, but I think that will call for some outdoor flying. Unfortunately I don't think that will be until spring now.

Would I buy another? I think so. If it can handle a 250, it should have no problem with my bigger electrics.

Here's the vid of mine yesterday. This is with the stock 3d settings, all I done was dropped the piro brake down to 2. My buddy Spunjah413 is doing the flying. I forgot to tell him I had 40% expo on the cyclics and 20% on the tail in the Tx. We tweaked some settings after this flight. This bird is no power house, it has the Turnigy Typhoon 500 motor swinging cheap Turnigy 425's...I'd say it done well.

LDH,

Looks good.... I have had to lower the CW / CCW brake down to 1 / 1 on a MT and set ACC to 4000 / 4100. Some of my Helis have a very soft stop at 3 / 3 on CW / CCW brake others have a hard bounce/ rebound at 3/3.
I`m also playing with the Agility setting. I have gone from 1700 to 1800 and now I`m down to 1600 to 1650 on all of my 450`s.

Yea its at NORMAL.

What are your thoughts on the vid?

Do you guys touch the sliders in the servo limit setup?
What about the cyclic ring?

It looked OK to me - assuming you are using collective and cyclic - I wasn't really sure what I was looking for I'm afraid

HI Mike,

Sounds like the servos load up (change in noise)
Also when I give it full collective and forward elevator, it seems like the front servos drop? NO weird movement?
