Default Correct motor wire connections for Lama

The A and B motors are identical except for the placement of the pinions, so you can use either one in either position as long as the pinions and wires are properly placed..

In the stock factory set-up, the rear motor has the pinion right on the outer end of the motor shaft and it drives the gear for the inner shaft. The wires from the rear motor plug into the top position on the left side of the 4 in one, with the side of the connector that has the visible metal strips faceing in, toward the 4 in 1.

The front motor has the pinion pushed down the shaft so that it's close to the motor. It drives the gear for the inner shaft. The wires from the front motor plug into the bottom position on the 4 in 1 and the side of the connector with the visible metal strips faces out, away from the 4 in one, which is the opposite of the top connector.

When set up like this, the top rotors spin counter clockwise and the bottom rotors spin clockwise. Don't forget to make sure the blades are installed facing the correct direction.

Here's some pics -

Red face

Hello Wizard man , Great Post , good stuff .Hope you dont mind me making a comment on something that happened to me ..Just warning people ,please be careful . I got caught out using metallic strips as a guide ,when i was younger grasshopper . Wasn,t motor wiring to 4in 1 .........Was 4in1 too battery wiring . I got complacent with how to insert wiring mettalic face in too battery etc .Between my models . Well wouldn,t you know it , blew two 4in is ,smoke yuck ..mmm .. Yes one i was complacent with / flyin the most , had been crimped wrong way in factory .So ever since ,I look red to red , black to black , for battery plug in to 4in 1
Ps ...Just like too say , as for my mistrust metalic sides , Rule of thumb for me , Black wires both to the centre of 4in1 unit easiest . Perhaps fool prove way . Cya
Happy fly...

Thank You, but I'm not sure about the Servo plug in's. I know which one plugs on top and witch one plugs on the bottom. I just don't know if I'm plugging them upside down or not. Please let me know. Thanks, Dave

The side of the servo plug which has the 3 visible metal strips faces downward.

The servo wires from the right side of the heli go into the top plug-in on the 4 in 1. The servo on the left side plugs in directly underneath it.

Here's a coupla pics -

Hi MNWizard,
What could possible cause the heli ascend only 1 foot off the ground when using stock motors and flying perfectly normal when using Xtreme ones?
The stock motors are brand new and are actually a second set of stock motors I've tried.
Thanks.

Question 2.4ghz vs 72mhz 4in1 have same wiring to motors and servo's?

Is there any difference between 72mhz wiring connections vs 2.4ghz?
Just being paranoid! I don't see why there would be. Output is separate from input, I'd think!
Mine are hooked up the way described here. I connected a battery to it to test out the motors & servo's and caught a whiff of hot varnish coming off the PTC resettable fuse, had it unplugged before the 2nd syllable of a curse word. Thought I'd look to see what I'd forgotten before I tried it again. It's possible that I used a bad 2.4 4in1 that I lost track of.
Seems that the older I get the less I take anything for granted! Especially my own memory! I've learned the best memory enhancement is a digital camera, with a note in the picture explaining what it is!
Thanks!
