DO you mean on startup ? I like to center the gyro by flicking in between heading and rate mode or you can just keep the tail straight from the rudder stick !

Sorry about the delay in reply - no it doesn't have to be - the GY 520 was MUCH better setting up mechanically but the GY701 - like its 611 predecessor doesn't seem sensitive to this - probably not a bad practice to do anyway so you can even up the amount of tail authority each way though again with sophisticated piro rate regulation on the 701 this is much less necessary.

Will this gyro/governor provide full functionality when using a Spektrum radio?

Should do, as long as you have channels that you can allocate to the gyro and gov/switch, much of the setup can be programmed on the amp module. Seven channels would do it with gov switched on with throttle stick position

mecuriell, as i understood the directions, the gov can only be switched on/off with a switch if you are using sbus anyways. correct?

thanks

figured it out. i didnt have the rpm lead plugged in. is it normal for the rpm's displayed on the unit to be 1 or two rpm's off what is on the radio? i.e. it says 1950 on the radio and 1949 on the unit?

thanks

The gov can be switched on and off with stick switch or condition with sbus as well as with a dedicated switch. My rpm is the same on tx and 750, I think there is a way to set them the same if they differ but haven't got to that bit yet!

I like 40% gives good control of spool up/down, manual suggests 20%

While we are talking about the 701. If I'm using a JR 11X radio, can I use a switch to turn off and on the governor? Or is this just an option with 8FG. I have one on order BTW

i believe it is only able to be turned on/off via a switch if you are using an s.bus receiver.

i believe the only thing that isnt possible without s.bus is turning the gov on/off with a switch. all the other functions are available. there are a total of 4 cables between the receiver and unit without s.bus, and 1 with s.bus

I have been using this thing for a few months now and love it (Just the gyro, not the gov)... just started playing with the advanced features and surprised nobody has done a write-up on tweaking those settings. Maybe I will once I get a handle on all the features.
