Default battery pack info needed...

Pulse 2S pack with "servo" and micro leads.

I have a friend who had a battery problem (brownout) yesterday and it was a really strange scenario. He uses a 2S 5000 Pulse 35C pack to power FBL, governor, servos and rx that he swears has always tested at appropriate (8.4 and down as it discharges) power levels on the leads that look like a servo plug and the "mini" white plug whatever that is called.

I put my Hyperion EOS Sentry on it, and it shows 2 good cells, 8.4v on the balance plug BUT only 5.2v on the 2 other leads/plugs. If I put it on my Hyperion and try to charge it I get errors, as the power out leads do not match the balance plug (I assume). He has never had trouble charging it, but he is not using a charger that requires balance and line connections at the same time. (A Lipo charger in the first place?!)

Anyway I searched Pulse info and can't find anything to help with if this is a normal pack or if something has gone very wrong with it. I think (fear) there is a diode in it that makes the two leads 5.2v so that they are appropriate for receiver power, but I hope I am wrong. (because if I am he has his system wired in a poorly designed manner).

Here is what they look like (note that they have 3 leads):

Can anyone help? Do these packs have "regulated" output??

Thanks!
