Default Almost ready for maiden flight

Got everything installed on my AvantGarde, tested the motor direction to make sure it spins in the right way before putting some colored shrink wrap on the bullet connectors. Plugged and unplugged my UBEC and it got fried from the spark. Now I am debating if I should try another UBEC or use an RX pack. I have a linear regulator that I can use at the moment with the RX pack but prefer not needing to charge an extra pack if I can help it.

The Beam is the first heli I have not used a separate RX power setup on and the only reason is because I was assured the internal BEC in the Kontronik is up to the task and also because I can run a small buffer pack that goes straight into the Total-G for a bit of redundancy.

I know it's one more thing to have to charge etc. but generally speaking the regulator / 2 cell LiPo is a very reliable way to go.

On the Hirobo I'm using a 6.6volt LiFe pack straight into a Spektrum 7100RX running Spektrum 6040 servos (and the 7100 has a built in step down for the gyro and tail servo). That works very well but you cannot easily test the remaining charge like you can with a LiPo.
