Default Slo-Max and CP 370 "Super" Motor

So, I'm a long-time owner of the FP v1 (well, was, until I converted that stupid stick frame ).

As a V1 owner, mods were essential to get that thing flying, but since I've gone V2, now wondering if the motor I picked up a LONG time ago (long long long time ago, I might add), is either dying, or just suffering from the recent chubbiness I added on..

I don't want to drop $10 (plus shipping, heh) on a "super" motor, and then experience the same thing.

I've been experiencing about a 30% (guess-timate) lift decrease, about 2 minutes in.

Then again, I'm using 2S 800 and 2S 1000mAh packs...
(I also have 3s 1800mAh packs, I might try... maybe, that'd be fantastic ).

Could it just be that it needs to go on a diet, or is the motor actually dying?

Has anybody upgraded from a Slo-Max to a CP 370 super motor, on this board?

Your bee is too heavy for 2 cell lipos with the stock motor.
3cell 1800 packs are way too heavy. The heaviest anyone has run is 1000 and personally I fly 800s.
Get a couple Turnigy 3cell 800s for around $7 each at the King.

Oops, forgot to mention I'm running the v1 4in1, which is why I'm not using3s, just don't want to fry it.

Im also not using the stock motor, but rather the slo-max...

The V1 4in1 is a 2s setup, but since you are already using an external brush esc you might be alright on 3s, but I’m not sure if the V1 3in1 itself will work/hold up on 3s. I did a mod awhile ago where I used the stock V1 receiver with a CP3 3in1 (which runs on 3s) and an Xtreme 380 motor which is almost the same as the 370 supermotor . It’s a little difference setup than what you’re talking about but it’s something to think about.

What ESC are you using? (Hank sais that youve already hacked an external ESC?) I am running 3 cell 1000mAh on a V1 with a K2 ESC. (and a supermotor).

Note: I still feel that the 1000mAh packs are just a tad too heavy......But I already had them and Im too stubborn (cheap) to buy some 800's until these all die. Im getting between 8 to 10 minutes per pack, but the bee feels like a pig in the air. I feel that with just a little less weight (800's) the bee would zip around better.

Using a Turnigy 30A ESC, went overboard since I figured I could rip it off and toss it into a plank later..
Oh little did I know, I'm going BL in most of my planned planes.

I picked up Moxie 2S 800 & 1000mAh becuase I wanted to get a feel for both of them, they both turned out great (lowpricerc.com I think), though I personally think I'm gonna go with the HobbyKing Nanotechs from now on...

The bee does definitely feel like a pig..

If your using a SloMax 300 then your supposed to run 2cell lipos. I have 2 new SloMax's im axious to try in my V2, just waiting to burn out my stockies first.

The SM with 2cell lipos worked awesome in the V1 and if its not enough power to fly in the V2 ill use 3cells. Since we both have external ESCs we can do that. Worst case we prematurely burn out the SM but who cares.

Let us know how the SM works in the V2 with 2 and 3 cell lipos.

The nano-techs and the Sky Lipo's from Hobby parts are what i am changing over to 100% now...30-40c ratings make everything i have fly better and with power in reserve....might be the way to fix your problem...if you have a low c rated battery the Bee is a pig to fly....

Oh, heh, I didn't know that I could just use the 3S on ext esc.

Now that I think about it, makes tons of sense.

I wouldn't burn out the rest of the v1 4in1, eh?

Yeah Jetta, that might be what's wrong with these Moxie batteries..
