Nice flying dude.
Did you use the default 250-450 settings or did you tweak things further? If yes, what - and why.

Also what cyclic servos are you using?

Aussie phoenix, I let someone use the USB link and I did not store the profile in the computer, I will have to get the cord back so I can read the settings directly from the model.

Thanks mate,

looking forward to seeing what you ended up with.
Also what cyclic servos are you using? I have been fighting with several different types and still havn't found anything that I am completely happy with.

How do you stop them from dying? I've had 2 burn out now on my 450, one in flight and one when I did the 3G V2.1 update (it just failed while doing a pre flight before spooling up). Also had one burn out on the bench on my 250 so I just don't trust them anymore.

I have looked at the 202 and 212, they still don't quite meet the 3G minimum specs but not by much. I fly with Inolab 261s on the tail of 2 of my 450s and love them. At the moment I am fitting a set of Emax ES08MDs but without trialing them yet so far I am less than impressed with the flimsy servo horns and the top servo gear which is small without many teeth so to level my arms I've had to put 37 clicks of subtrim on one of them.

Emax ES08MD

Digital at 6V 2.4kg/0.08sec

May go with the inolabs next.

Aussie, from memory the 212's are 0.9 at 6v which is 3G's minimum i think ... good luck with trying out the new servos. I'm very happy with the 202's but i'm no 3D pilot just flips n rolls at this stage so I'd be interested to see how an experienced pilot finds them, with 12 deg cyclic the G5 flips on a dime

Yep the speed is good but the 212s are 1.8kg servos and the 3G manual asks for 2.2kg minimum (could just ask for this as it is the same spec as Align 410 servos but).

Ah... thats interesting, i hadn't realized the torque requirement as well. The way i fly it will be a year or so till i push these enough to find those kinds of limits ....

I just replace the dreaded 410's with Hitec HS5065MG servos and they seems to perform very well together with the 3G.

They are slower than the minimum spec in the 3G manual, but still performs way better than the 410's ever did. I guess the minimum spec in the 3G manual is simply a copy of the specs in the DS410 manual rather than something well grounded.

With any stabilizing system the performance will increase with decreased response times. But I guess the speed of the 5065 is sufficient and that the huge amount of interaction you get due to very variable performance between different individuals of DS410 is much more detrimental than the lower speed of the 5065.
