I think the frames are going to have more holes in them.

Do you guys think the head will not be full bling like the trex450, but the head, flybar cage and swash plate will be metal black and others will be plastic like the trex600 configuration?

IMO 1600 to 1800g is not heavy for a 500-class heli. They are all pretty much in that range. QJEP8, Lepton, HDX500 all fall into that weight bracket. However since this appears to the all plastic variant, it is a small concern and a variant with CNC swash, head and tail migh start to get porky. Time will tell.

Since when doe people care about what the frame look like? Most of it are covered by the canopy already and you can't see the black CF. It's really interesting to see everyone whining about no pictures. Then as soon as pics are there, out comes the complains. By all means, don't buy it, gives the pipeline more inventory to fill for me.

Does that mean 9650/9257s could be used as well?

Yes I believe so and in fact is probably made for Hitech / Futaba mini's. Looking at the frames in the flying pic you can see the JR servos are missing a mounting screw on each end which probably means the hole spacing is for 9650, etc. Just a guess but it sure looks that way.

I'm with RCBoosted here the look of the frame isn't that important but the strength of it is. I would rather have a bullet proof frame than a fancy minimilised job that falls apart on the first wadding. Anyway the canopy creates the look of the bird and that may probably change like the 450 did. As for the head I suspect they will go down the 600 route for sure to keep the cost down ie metal swash with plastic levers and flybar cage & grips. Maybe an SE option will exist ? I think thats a yes for sure.

I hope Align keeps this public then we can perhaps put some input into its design. I would like to start with the chinese weights for starters to give the tail an easier time.

Anybody else ??

Cheers
Glenn

Coming from Coke bottle for canopy... anything will look good, right? (jk)

Anyways, looks good enough for me... I just want it NOW already.

The design of the frame appears much more simple and elegant than say the Lepton. The Lepton has far too many parts and when you crash, theres a lot to rebuild. Plus, trying to change motors/pinions can be a pain due to poor foresight in accessibility of certain things.

I hope they have a good motor. I haven't been happy with some of the motors for my Lepton. Plus, the Lepton isn't as aggressive as my 450. Hopefully the TRex 500 will be more like its smaller and larger siblings!

Keep in mind too that these pics are of prototypes... everything is prone to change, especially the frame.

I agree though about the canopy... I love the tall narrow looking canopies, they look awesome. Maybe we can hope that will change too.

looks good to me

im definitely digging the black anno on the bling parts, but the canopy needs new paint. as far as the frames go, i could live with ugly in exchange for strong. i dont fly crazy enough to require a particularly light heli either.

as long as parts are in the same range as the 450 parts and i could use 450 packs, i think i would consider it. but of course, im working on a new mountain bike so i definitely have to see where align is going with all its new helis

Hey Bob, Can you talk to your contacts at Align and convince them to add Chinese Weights to the tail grips ? That would be a standout feature for the T500 against all the competition. Better tail performance, lower servo power consumption, longer tail servo life - sweeeeeet!

They aren't. Align hasn't said anything about two 3S lipos. The batteries they have been using in their videos are 4S and 6S, not two 3S packs.

The 6S1P pack is simply (2) 3S1P packs taped together. Anyone can acheive this by using their own packs and make a simple "series" plug. Of course "perhaps" the pack they show in the video is shorter etc, but one would think smart marketing would make it so people could use their existing 450 packs..... at least it does make more sense.
