Default How to change kde XF shaft.

I couldn't find any videos and there is no phone number for kde.

I have to replace a shaft. I removed the top collar and lower 2 set screws.

Anything else, or do I start tapping the shaft with a punch from the lower side?

I couldn't pull the top can off easily.

Last time I talked to Patrick, he mentioned red loctie is used to on the motor shaft. You need to heat it first then punch the shaft out.

That is correct, once the lower set-screws are removed, use an arbor press or be careful with a punch and mallet, and press the shaft out of the Aluminum Fan assembly. Reinstall the new shaft in reverse order (apply Green Loctite 638 or equivalent) to the shaft at the fan interface, as well as don't forget the small brass shim that is between the Aluminum Fan and the lower-bearing along the shaft for the bearing to ride-on. Use Red Loctite (Permanent 263 or equivalent) to the set-screws to finish the installation and tighten down all hardware.

Feel free to send me an e-mail to Patrick@kdedirect.com if you have any further questions and we'll get you taken care of.

Digging up an old thread, but I have a question.

When installing a new shaft, how should the shaft be positioned? ie: flush, protuding?

And how much, if any, end float should the shaft have when the motor is assembled?
