A Few Upgrades
New swash plate, blade grips and blades. Been too windy to try it all out.
May seem minor to some of you folks, but I'm quite proud. Last Saturday, before the mods, I ran 4 batteries through it. Kept it in the air the whole time. I can fly it any which direction and even counteract slight wind. Only one screw up. Been working on landings. Had a piece of cardboard with a 5 or 6 inch circle drawn on it. Could hit the cardboard, but was really trying for the circle. Caught the landing gear once on the edge of the cardboard. Tipped over. No damage. My bad. P.S. Also picked up a DX6i. To be honest it scares the crap out of me. Way too many switches and stuff. Been reading everything I can. May have a few questions for you all.

Mmmm, I like that. Very inspirational.
My 120 is taking a battering. Nearly every flight something is bent or broken. Time for some mods I think. Starting with the skids. Im sooooo over the stock ones. this'll be pack #4 |

Really? I've crashed my 120 pretty hard and nothing broken yet. It's way tougher than my 200 sr x.

http://www.micro-flight.com/Blade%20120%20SR.htm Just make sure you glue the CF skid into the hollow leg. I didn't, and lost one in flight. Now back to stock skids. Don't crash as much, so they've been holding up. Had to use a dremel and modify the green frame. Was worried that it would weaken it. Got cocky the other day, and piled it into the ground. It was moving. Figured for sure something was broken. Nope. Dusted it off, straightened out one of the skids, gave it the once over and continued flying. Really like this set up.

I really like to fly my 120, but it seams my board went bad.
I can get full movement on my left servo but I only get 1/2 movement on the right servo. I cleaned everything up and it made no difference. I will get another board but it may not be soon. I miss flying it already. It's ok because I have a 200sr x to practice with until I get my 120 sr up again. |

You need to modify your stock skids to help slow down breakage. You will probably find they normally break at the same spot, right where the bend is made to attach to the frame....at least mine did. I bought some "goop" clear adhesive and made a fillet from the goop across the bend where they typically break. Do this on a new pair before they become damaged or weaken. The "goop" will create added strength and also allow some give as it remains somewhat flexible after drying. I have been flying the same pair for around 3 months and the last pair suffered numerous crashes before breaking with the "goop" reinforcement. As an added note....if you know you are going down you need to cut the throttle before the crash and you will save a lot of parts. Much of the damage I see in crashes is due to the motor running under power when the crash occurs. Chop that throttle when going down !!

I was looking to do this with my SR. Can't decide which kit though. The regular bolt on or the "A" style bolt on. I have no other mods on my heli except for a canopy.
Think the added weight will make a noticeable difference? It flies good right now, I just want the boom support and I really don't want to change it's flight characteristics for the worse. EDIT* Went with the normal kit. WOW, what a difference. So much more stable. Did a hands free hover for a good 5 seconds! Love it even more now.
