Default Stutter on startup

I've converted to brushless using the AEO kit with M05 and xp7a. It's working but the motor stutters when I put the throttle on at take off and takes a second or two before spinning up. Is this normal?

I've seen a few vids of other peoples helis cogging bad on startup.

I don't know what the solution is. Does the 7A allow for a higher startup power? That's all I can think of.

How tight is your gear mesh? Does it have a small amount of lash in it or are you running it tight?

I have the the C05, and 5amp ESC AEO kit on mine and it coggs on startup about 1 out of 5 times. It was alot worse when I first installed it probably 4 out of 5 times, but it has gradually gotten better. At first I was thinking it might be the ESC and I have considered upgrading to a 7amp ESC, but it after reading your post I think it must be the motor.

Direct solder the motor to the esc well.

Use good lipos, not the Nano "35C my ass" packs.

Appropriately spaced lash between the main and the pinion.

Don't slam your throttle up, rather ease it up.

Most outrunners will cog a little.
