Its good! I ordered a couple batteries this week. Gens ace 6s 4000 25c packs.

Last week I hovered it using a couple 3s packs in series. That gave me a chance to set up the tail and gyro.

Can't wait to fly it for real this weekend!

Just installed my new 4000 6s pack. This thing just gets the CG right. It actually is a bit heavy.

Had to push it back towards the motor till I had about 6-7mm of clearance. To get it balance just right.

I was thinking before I could possibly run the 5000 6s packs. Looks like the 4000 might be as big as I want to go.

This all varies of course depending on each individual battery manufacture and

each person's electronic placement/choices.

Rambling complete. Just my observation.

All is ready on mine except to finish the control rods and solder the motor power plugs on the ESC.

But I have not been in much of a rush as I have another to fly and the weather has been terrible this winter!

Mine is set up ready to go. Sadly, the 60 degree temps for this weekend are more like high 40's and rain. I did throw together a copter x 250 I have been flying in the house to hold me over. Lol

I'm kinda jealous of the other HF members out west and down south. Lol

Sweet! I spent an hour or so the other day getting everything on the head nice and level.

What else do you have to fly?

As for winter weather goes, if there is not too much wind a "snow fly" sounds fun!! Hehe

That's great!

I have been considering adding some 620 parts to my 550, to stretch it. Use most the tail parts off the 620; the boom and all the carbon / aluminum.

Might be kinda trick.

There are some people in scale forums who have done just that to their Swift 16 and NX's to fit them into some of the 50 sized scale fuselages that Century offer for 50 nitros.

Wow turnigy motor. What is you're full spec? Is this turnigy motor only comes in one kv or other different
kv?

That is a 1100 kv. Turnigy 600 motor. Seems to be working alright for now. I plan on upgrading it down the road.

I grounded my tail boom today. I noticed that I have been getting a strange glitch around the 2 minute mark during flights. I figure, ground the boom just to eliminate the possibility of static. Hoping this works.

Great looking build there Dylan! Let us know how the boom grounding works for you. I have a NX stretched using the 620 boom and belt. All the other tail pieces are from the NX... well except the carbon push rod.

What kind of flight times are you getting with the 4000 pack? What HS are you running?

I'm only getting 3min from my 3300 pack and about 8 1/2 min from my 5000 pack running a 2050rpm HS.

I've been looking at those Gens Ace lipos for a few days now, but would like your feedback.

Thanks,
Jim

What do you like/dislike about your NX now that it is stretched?

The Gens Ace packs seem good so far. I have 5 cycles on one of them. Also just got another pack and put 1 cycle on it. So, still pretty new.

The IR was 11 for the entire pack and 13 for the other pack.

Free shipping, and only takes 2 days to get to me, here in L.A. I'm happy with them.

I'm getting 6 minute flights at 75% - 80% drain, also I am running a BEC, you might get a bit longer run time with a Li-fe pack powering the servos.

Running a head speed of about 2000 I'm getting 6 min flights. Still playing with the head speed on this thing.

Stock wood 550mm blades too, by the way.

I was thinking about trying out some smaller/lighter 3300mah packs at some point.

I bought a Century 8 tooth pinion this week.

During the first flight it failed on me. I started to hear a clicking sound. Like a bad mesh

or something caught in the teeth.

It took me a few minutes to figure out where the noise was coming from in the gear mesh,

but once I took the pinion off and looked closely at it under my light. I could easily see a

nice big crack running from top to bottom between two of the teeth!

The 8 tooth pinion is just too small to be strong I think. The material is way too thin

between the teeth.

No biggie, I'm just going to send it back.

Just thought I would throw that out there.

Yes, that was discussed in some other forums. The 8T pinion was offered for use in a LOW head speed, low load installation (e.g. 4S on high KV motors). They do not have the strength of the 9T plus pinions because in order to make them in an 8T format the walls must be much thinner.

If you were using them in a 2000 plus head speed installation with rotor blades longer then 520mm, then the pinion will be stressed beyond its design limits.

What I like most about the stretched Swift is that 600mm blades are easy to come by locally. I also think it is a floater with the larger rotor diameter. When I do a big loop it just seems to hang there at the top effortlessly.

I don't think there is anything to dislike about the stretched mod.

I'm not a big fan of my new landing gear, and how I had to trim the vertical fin to get it to sit nearly level. Now that I have found that the blades need to be somewhat loose, I'll probably go back to stock LG. I just haven't flown that much this winter to worry about it.
