All the practice with Phoenix helped. It did feel a bit sloppy. I must check the mode it was not a sharp as the 120sr which i have on high rate and the fast ball link setup on the head.
But least i took it home in one piece which is always a bonus

Nice maiden flight! keep up on pheonix and soon that basketball court will be way to small to fly in

Just got a new Blade 450 BNF, was going going to get a T-Rex 250 but the B450 was half the price. Thought it would be better to get a bigger heli and get some practice in.
This is my first attempt at flying it was just a small hover in the front yard, it was the windiest day I've flown in. The B450 was straight out of the box just checked over.

It looks a bit av but it was the scariest heli I've flown.

My second flight, this is the best video. No 3D or anything just hover practice.
Had a couple walk past the boyfriend was staring could not keep eyes of the Heli.
Ha I guess he wants one now.
Well thats what the wife said. as I was fixated keeping it in the air.
I tried idle up mode as well was interesting not in video though. Just got to work out the rates seems too slugish in pitch and yaw for my tastes.

I use "Windows Live Movie Maker" for that (trimming videos). Likely not the best, but it is free and it works. Don't know about something for a Mac.

Default fun in the wind

Got some time today to get a bigger hover in. It was still very windy but I'm happy with how things went, the shed worked like a wind block for some parts. Not going to let a little thing like a windy day get in the way of learning.

Heys guys here's another of my hover video's
With Idle up this time, it flys better in Idel up mode, I guess the higher head speed helps.
Oh yeah some piros too!
Real 3D stuff here.. LOL.
It's a slow learning process, I know but I haven't crashed her yet.

Good job Rod_H! Appears you're ready for 'nose-in' hovers...and back and forth forward flight.
How do you like the tail hold? The tail hold on the B450 is very good, at least compared to the stock B400 setup.
Keep it going!

stock 450, dx8, harder eflite dampeners, thunderpower mains, kbdd paddles with stock weights, kbdd tails, 50% gyro gain, 6 degrees cyclic, 10.5 collective. battery wasnt even warm at the end

Blade 450 (4 min 25 sec)

Thanks Basmo.
Ha nose in hovers.. Surely you jest!!
I would kill it for sure even on the sim I crash-en-burn sometimes. Well prolly cos I get all adventurous and start doing flips and such.
It's fun and scary all at the same time.

I have to get this thing into or up to more sensitive pitch en roll settings to me it feels too loose or slopy.
Has anyone any idea's on what to do.
I've been playing with the settings in the DX6i. but dont want to stuff up the factory settings.

Thanks Rod..

I've got my cyclic set to where (on high rates) the flybar cage is just slightly lower than touching the blade grips when giving full elevator or aileron - maybe about a credit card width.
This gives me pretty good response. Make sure that you also give full positive and negative pitch while giving cyclic to ensure no binding / interference with the blade grips. I guess there are other mods such as lighter flybar paddles which are supposed to help out also. Have not tried those yet.
The heli seems to flip fairly well when I set to above. Believe in 'Intermediate' mode on my DX6i, dual rates (high) for cyclic are 85%. Swash mix at factory (per manual) settings. In idle-up, I usually fly with the high dual rates.

Default Living Room Hover

Well, I been working so hard at trying to fly the Blade SR with all her tail problems. Since I finally got her head set up right and now that I learned about pitch curves, I was confident enough to go ahead and hover my Blade 450 (she's been sitting in the box for a month). Just had to level the swash and track the blades (She's as not RTF as advertised). WOW, she is so much easier to handle than the Blade SR. I was a little nervous since I was 3 feet behind her and a 52 inch TV is in front:

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-P7TQgOtFLM[/ame]

The only issue is that the tail drifted slightly. I tried to trim it by 1 click to the left than 1 click to the right, but it would still drift, so it's not a trim issue, but if I turn the gyro gain any higher, the tail will start to wag. Any suggestions?

i havent been able to solve it either. it works awesome flying and piroing but will drift a tiny bit like its hunting when you arent moving

I don't know about others, but flying a B450 in a living room that close is kinda risky.. i'd never try that after seeing what it did to the METAL tail boom it hit last week and almost cut it in half...

That's really good, you'll be doing circuits in no time. How does she handle with that fuselage? she still looks pretty maneuverable. We're you in IU?
