Interesting, I've never lost any of my electronics in a crash and I've come in very hard with no throttle hold many many many times.

I guess the Kontroniks stuff just keeps ticking.

In the crash that destroyed my Hobbying, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have mattered what brand ESC was mounted. Besides, I could destroy 6 of those Hobbywing ESCs in crashes for the price of one Kontronik of the same amperage rating.

The Jive also has a super solid BEC circuit and a fantastic governor in a simple form factor as well as telemetry available through my JLog2.

However right now I think the Jeti Mezon is one heck of a good bargain.

Their Mezon 130 12S is $340 allow peaks of 300A and appears to also have a very solid BEC circuit 10A continuous 15A peak, telemetry built in ( for Jeti users ), allows an external governor, and doesn't require an additional BEC cables or a heat sink.

I'll probably use Mezons on my future builds because they greatly simplify things.

That's all well and good but the OP was asking about a reliable ESC in a lower price range.

Yeah that is a tough one. Mezon is great except for $$. I have one.
I am using the Edge 130 10s with a Gryphon BEC on mine. Works great but would be simpler with a good BEC built in.
I am wondering about the Scorpion 130 w/BEC (when the become available). Might be a good alternative.

Cheers

I guess it is all relative.

I've only purchased Kontroniks to date and the Jeti Mezon seems very nicely priced relative to K.

The tipping point is having a DS-16. Suddenly the Mezon's seem like a great deal when you can just plug them straight into your receiver and get telemetry out of it.

I don't even like picking up my other transmitters anymore.

I'm running a Scorpion Commander V 130 SBEC on my E5 and I really like it.

If you read the OP, he mentions a Talon 90 and "budget". None of the stuff you've listed is anywhere near that price range. Not everyone who participates in this hobby is made of money and there are a lot of lower-priced components that work just fine.

I have an E5 coming and I'm planning on using an MX 600 1200kv I think it is, on 6s.
I have a YEP 80A esc that, with this motor, worked very well in my Trex 550 with the stock 520mm blades.

Wondering how it will work in the E5 with Rail 556 mains, and 96 tails.
I also have a YGE 120hv in my Raptor E700. I can't tell the difference between the gov's on either the YEP or the YGE. Both are very good in my opinion and use the same prog card.

The other components I'm using are 610/650 servos, CC 20a BEC, and a Microbeast.
Had very good luck with these cheaper electronics in the 550 Trex.

I used that motor for quite a while on mine and I was pretty happy with it. You're going to need to change out the shaft with the long version. The standard shaft isn't long enough to reach the support bearing in the E5.

Well hell, thanks for that bit of info. Seems like I remember reading something about that. Skipped my mind.
Guess I better order it.

Seems like it is a pain to change them shafts out in the Align motors, or maybe I'm thinking of getting the bearings out. Its been a while since I've done it.
Any tips or tricks to it?

It's pretty easy to do, especially if you have a small arbor press. If the bearings in your motor are still smooth, it's really easy. You just loosen the set screw holding the shaft in, it is accessible through the cooling fan openings at the top of the can. After loosening the set screws, press or tap the shaft out from the top of the motor can. The front bearing should come out with the shaft. Getting that bearing off of the shaft can be difficult so just replace it since the new shaft comes with bearings. If you are going to replace the rear bearing, pull the stator out of the can and press or tap the bearing out of it and replace. Make sure that you line up the flat on the shaft lined up with the hole for the set screw before you tighten it back down after installing the new shaft.
