If its twice as heavy as a Trex 800 or gob 770 its not gonna be twice as powerful. Thats a heli for a single guy with a good job.

How would you control 4 swashplate servos? My Spektrum AR7200BX doesn't have an option for 4 servos at 90 degrees. It only has 3 servos at 120 or 140, or 3 servos at 90. How would this work?

Designers are from Greece. It is not available yet. Flight video in next few weeks so I assume there still are some issues. It was not flying at IRCHA? "Over 100 test flights" is not much.

I have mixed feelings. Now it is easy to criticize. We should wait and see how it flies.

After many flights with 800 having only 120A ESC and 4.2kW motor I think lack of power in that class is not an issue. Those who need more power use 160-200A ESC and >11 kW motors.

My second 800 has YEP 180A HV. I do not lack power. I want to see lighter airframe. Sure there is a limit but we still do not use extremely low weight materials. Temporary airframes have high end price tags but use low end materials. I want to see kevlar, ceramic composites, titanium. This would explain high prices.

Is Velos pushing wrong direction? We will see.

Simplicity is not Velos'es advantage.

No, but arguably a Turbine heli could be classed the same. Heavy, expensive and totally over the top.

Engineering is like that- Why do it? Because we can.

I agree 100%. Those looking at Velos should first watch how turbine helis are flying. Actually Velos will have more power but weight remains high.

At some point increasing RPM is just waste of ammo. Generates to high power consumption and as a result short flight times. Putting 2x12S lipos will not make it to fly twice longer. With increasing RPM power consumption increases expotentially. This is real catch.

The Velos has certainly started many discussions and debate, that's for sure.

So far as flight time, Velos posted on their Facebook page that running 1900rpm will give 5mins flight time. 1300rpm gives 12mins. Pretty good for this heavy weight, IMO.

I would hazard a guess that a lot of folk who fly this monster will be flying it at a more sedate HS. The blade sound must be awesome with lower HS and the wide chord blade, as stated in the Velos vid.

That thing looks awesome.

I fly scale with very low head speeds so that would be an ideal heli for me.

I don't care what it costs I want one even if I have to sell a body part to get it.

Looks very nice and very heavy. It would be interesting to see the current/voltage graphs from each power system during various flight scenarios.

Justin you have very nice fleet. I am sure you will have to wait at least 6 months to get one. Be patient. I remember delays when Protos Max was announced. Same story with Agile 7.2

I wonder why Logo 800 Xxtreme is not appealing for you? It is big and powerfull... available and proven platform.

I'm just getting tired of the regular pod/boom thing. I know the Velos 880 is a pod/boom design, but it's different. It's a departure from the normal old design. I have this disease where I MUST have the latest and greatest thing to come out. And I like CNC machined aluminum and carbon fiber.

Justin I got your point. I hope you'll be happy with 880.

I learned to be patient. I had to. Often I wait for part ordered overseas. I have seen many issues with newly introduced models. Goblin and Align 700 are good examples:
https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=295533
[ame]http://youtu.be/L-xMPvRrh6c[/ame]

SAB and Align eliminated most of issues but it took time.

Velos will not become very popular. Most of us are curious how it will perform but will refrein from getting one for many reasons:
- very heavy
- complicated design
- unproven concept (yet)
- new company - if they bancrupt spare parts are gone

Velos can have twice the power of ordinary 700 or 800 but with 880 blades this power is rotating 20% bigger rotor surface. I am sure even 1000mm blades can be powered with 700 motor. Question is if Velos will be the rocket or self destructing piece of garbage.

I hope it will be great as advertised. Lets wait for flight videos. They promised to share some in next few weeks.
