Accepted, you always struck me as a nice guy before, so I was totally surprised by that earlier reply.

I got these packs yesterday, they were custom made on request of my local store (they actually only ordered six of them). I could most likely get the 1800's too.

Specs:

Desire Power 6S1P 1300mAh 35C
Dimensions: 43,5mm x 35mm x 73mm
Mass: 210g including EC3 connectors and velcro

For me this gives a perfectly balanced stretched Mini Protos, Mini V-Bar above the tail mount, Hyperion phase sensor below the tail mount, Futaba R6203SB receiver below the main shaft. Overall take-off mass is 905g. (1800's would probably be too heavy for my taste, both mass and balance wise.)

Today I crashed my MiniP, fortunately I throttle hold and the blade stopped quickly before the blades mangled itself on the cement instead it slid on its side that added racing stripes to the canopy, looked it over and found no damage and flew it 2 more times.

21 packs today, continued playing with vbar gov and rail gains, I think I found the gov limit, it started acting up after an increase, dropped it a level and it was all good. Tail gain is now getting pretty high and still no wag, every increase locks the rail in more and more, I must be close to the limit now.
Tested 3 pack types, TP 1300, nano 1300 and zippy 1800.
Tp's def had more punch, in fff, there was another level of speed available, where as the others didn't, it wasn't huge, but noticeable.
I could also feel the weight of the 1800's, flips where a bit off and so was climb rate, but I did get an extra minute.
So I think TP 1300's are def the best, if you can afford them.

Could you post your V-Bar setup file? I'm currently not happy with mine, haven't adjusted it yet though. Just wondering what tail and gov settings other people with the same setup are running.

Rossk have a look at your mechanical tail setup. In the optimizers 90 usually means your tail is weak. You may need further ball spacing on the tail servo or bigger or better tail blades.

This could also be because you left them on and done a lot of piros. Usually only need them on for 1 flight and do some piros each way until the stops are snappy but no bounce.

Thanks Beans, I have not touched the optimiser, don't really know how it works.

I heard that the bearings in the tail grips wear out after 30-40 flights, I am up to 71 flights without doing anything mechanically except oiling the bearings every 10 flights or so.

The tail blades are looking more like lawn mower blades from grass landings, but are not chipped or anything like that.

My vibes are the lowest I have ever had, so I am scared to change anything, don't want to ruin a good thing...

Normally I would have crashed 3 times by now and had to replace heaps of parts, but it flies so well, I will have to try harder to have a dirt nap, lol.

I think I will fly the hell out of it tomorrow again, then go over the tail through the week for something to do while I wait for the brain or my P500 to show up...

14 packs today, the tail started playing, fast wag in fff, so I lowered the tail gain, that fixed it for a bit, then it came back a couple packs later.
So I finished the day with low hs, technical moves, touch and goes, etc.
I will go over the tail, freshen the bearings etc.
Might try the stock blades, any other suggestions?
After I do this, should I reset the optimizer? - how?

Man, wish I could do 14 packs in a day. That would be amazing. I think I might get a chance 8/11 weekend. Just wish I had someone to fly with here in San Jose, CA.

Today I only got 1.5 packs in. Another newbie mistake... I forget to use the battery checker on the second pack before taking off. I thought it was fully charged.. . In the middle of some loops I heard the motor go half speed, so I took it down as fast as possible. Two beeps on the ESC. Battery checker reported 1%. Lesson learned, I'll be checking every battery before each flight now, regardless of what I think it has in it. On a positive note, I was able to do my first tail slides and prolonged inverted hovering today. Also some back to back forward loops.

It was 45 packs for the weekend, plus a few more in my uncles heli.

I have made the same mistake, same pack twice in a row(I think something distracted me during the swap), now I check religiously.
Especially now when I walk out to the field with up to 10 packs on me, its easy make a mistake.
I should be able to get more done when I get my double PL8 charger station setup, waiting on power supplies to show up.

I typically number my batteries and just go through them in sequence so far so good.

I'm pretty thorough in using this. I check every pack when strapping it to the heli and after flight too. No issues at all. It helps me keep track of battery state and my sloppy collective management

Nice! at least you were being productive and making sure the grass was being tended to. Not for me however as my heli tried to take a tree down and lost . Luckily it fell through the branches and was just enough for me to reach it. Interesting the main blades were unharmed, with quick inspection one main blade grip was broken and Savox servos still smooth. Rather have blade grips break than servo gears. The bolt for the main gear sheared which probably help lessen the impact. Man, just getting back in the hobby and two weeks already have a couple of crashes AND My Trex450 did not fair as well as the Mini today.

IMHO the MiniP is a better crasher! That 450 Pro gear always strips with a good blade strike and destroys the servo gears a lot easier.

20 packs today, which makes 115 flights without an un planned landing for the mini p, vbar stretched. Im throwing it around more and more and having a blast with it.
My motor is running hotter than it used to, I haven't changed anything except that I am flying harder, I oil it every 10 flights. I know there have been lots of threads about the 6S motor temps, but I don't think anyone has come up with a solution.

Just flew eight packs, on the 2nd pack I did some forward inverted cutting of tall grass. The grass bit hard, gone Mini Protos, entangled in 300mm long grass.

Took it out, had a look, continued flying. I love this thing :).

The best thing about it, was that two T-Rex 450 Pro owners watched it happen, they couldn't believe what they just witnessed :).

Got my MiniProtos a week ago as a kit. Purchased Mini V-BAR to it and have been enjoying flying ever since.
Every day I have done some adjustment to Mini V-BAR until today worked 3 flights just ironing last issues out.
Now this bird flies FANTASTIC! It is very sensitive to controls and tail is rock solid from hover to fff, windy power turns etc. Did not have chance to test backwards flying.

P.S. Sold my Trex450 yesterday

Just did my first Mini Protos autoration, successful! Stock stretch SAB 350's, belt tension per manual.

Grin on my face, it's pretty funny to do with a 450 :).
