Default Hobbywing Platinum V3 100a Temp cut off

Has anyone else had their ESC cut on out on them mid flight? I am running this ESC on a Logo 480xx with the stock 2015-1070kv motor and have had this happen 2 times.

Both times have ended in a "Crash" where I had to hit TH and land it. Both times it hit VERY hard on the skids due to the cutout happening in the middle of a very fast hurricane and bleeding of a TON of HS before getting it level, but luckily the 480 just bounced and the second crash damaged only the main shaft a few scratches on the canopy.

Anyways, what is the temp cut off set at? Has anyone else had this problem? I am a little overgeared for my current gov settings (running a 19T pinion with 153t main at 2400 rpm) but with such a low power motor I did not think it would be enough to cause problems.

According to the manual, over temp cut off should only reduce the power, not cut the motor completely. The only thing that cuts it completely is a signal loss, but, I never lost control of the unit and was able to get it upright without any issue.

I am very confused as to why the motor has cutout twice now.

I push a 4025 pretty hard with a HS if 3000 and never had this problem. Running in a stretched Atom with 500 mm blades.

I'm really confused then. The thing is I'm running the HS lower than I should be, but, the ESC never feels all that hot after a flight.

I may switch out the Rx and see if it solved the problem

Unless it is going into overload protection. This would cut the motor immediately. I find it hard to believe since this ESC can take 150a for 10 seconds, but, maybe?

You say that you run a low head speed. Is the throttle curve low or is the gearing correct for low head speed.

The reason for asking is that the HW ESC does not have active freewheeling so using a low throttle curve will result in higher load on the ESC.

UPDATE: solved the problem. It was a faulty switch in my Frsky Taranis. ESC is working perfectly.

Running 100A v3 in my gob 500, hitting 3000 rpm the esc comes down scorching after ~3mins but it has never shut down in flight.

The junk quality switches failed and triggered my TH causing the crash. It was hard to find at first because it was not easy to replicate, but, as it got worse it is now easily repeatable.

Nothing wrong with programming, but, you get what you pay for sometimes.

And yes, it made no sense to me that it would be the ESC but at the time I cousknt figure out what was causing it and the ESC seemed most likely.

The G500 is much heavier and less efficent than the logo and requires much more power to fly similarly. There are a ton of guys using this ESC on the G500 so it didn't make sense that the logo would be able to shut it down.

But, hind sight is 20/20 haha. Glad it's not the ESC, I really like these hobbywings!

Overall the Taranis x9d is really good, especially for the price.. but I had an odd problem with the aileron/elevator flicking around centre and not staying there while not touching the gimbal.

Turned out replacing it with a new one solved the problem... $12, can't really complain about that... have been using for 7 months and no other problems so far (except leaving it on and killing a LiFe battery).

The hobbywing esc's have by far been the most impressive budget piece of gear I've purchased. Most of the time when I think there is a problem, it's my own fault
