Default thinking of a warp

hi guys, thinking of getting a warp and selling my 450 pro.

a few questions,
what sort of flight times are you guys getting with 1300 mah vs 2250 mah 6s, and how does it effect the cog / feel of the heli.

what amp esc are you guys running?

and is the motor that comes with the warp ok?

thanks all,
chris

I'm getting 3min 30sec of hard 3D, but I can get up to 5min if sport flying with some mild 3D thrown in.

Power is great on 6S, whether you use the stock motor or the Scorpion 2520-1360kv. I've used both, and am presently using the stock motor. I'm running a Castle ICE Lite 50A, and I'm using a Western Robotics High Current BEC.

Default thinking of a warp

On the stock motor and koby 55 lv+ with western robotics bec I get 5.5 minutes of light 3D on ID1 with plenty to spare

And id2 5 minutes of light 3D with battery right at 80 percent used

Chrome 1300's abd gens ace 1200's

2250 is too big! If it were 3S then that would work.

I believe you can go up to something like a 1700 or 1800 on this heli.

chris,

The first four packs I bought with the heli are Chrome 6S 1300mAh 35C short style. I just bought two other packs, Punch RC 6S 1500mAh 65C long style batts. I can use only one strap on the short packs as they need to go pretty far forward on the battery tray to balance properly. The longer heaver packs I have to put nearly all the way back on the tray, but I get to use two straps.

The smaller packs perform well, and come down warm after a hard flight. The larger packs come down cool/luke warm after the same type of flight. Not sure which packs I like better. Also, not sure if I can feel any difference in flight between the lighter and heavier packs.

Anything I dont' like? Well, there isn't much real estate on the heli for electronics, and wiring isn't fun. That's about it.

well the only issue i am aware of is the tail bearings via a post in this section.

looks like im going to pull the trigger on this heli.

can i use a full size servo on the tail?
im going to take the servos off my 450 for it.

I have my own idea of how/why people are seeing failures of the tail case bearings. One issue I've seen discussed, the other I haven't. I'll post that later on.

The Warp will accommodate full size and smaller tail servos. The larger ones like MKS DS8910A+ (this is what I'm using) gets mounted in the right side frame. The smaller servos like MKS DS95i gets mounted in the left side frame.

Wiring can be a bitch, but you get out what you put in. I managed an ICE 50 Lite and BEC pro under the tray with an AR7200BX up top, all wiring internal.

Its not too bad honestly, but you do need to get creative with layout.

Perhaps I will post more detailed pictures next time I need to pull any trays.

My wiring is all external for ease of servo replacement.

I'll post a pic or two later this evening, though no one will be impressed by them. I have a very far from tidy wiring job.

Yeh, to each his own man! I don't believe either way is wrong or right... I just like a really clean wiring job.

Replacing servos will require one extra step, which is pulling the radio tray.

I've posted my pictures before, but here it is anyway.

nice job on the wiring

cool idea for the different tail servo sizes too...me likey, nothing like positive thought.

bec pro... wow thats a bit overkill, will i be ok using my polaris on the warp?

i must admit im not fussed about wires and like bob o, i just run the servo wires outside for the same reason.

im going to use ds92 on cyclic and the 520 is it..? cant think.. from the pro for tail.
futaba rx and beastx, the esc i will have to buy...
thanks guys...
chris

Chris, the Polaris should be good enough. Had I known about this BEC before I got my BEC Pro, I would have gotten it. I just didn't trust the smaller CC BEC for the job.

The BEC in the ICE 50 Lite alone, on 6s is not sufficient according to the user manual. I never bothered doing a test, just got the BEC pro and called it a day.

Not being a die-hard fan of low rpm, i like to make some cool near silent flights, just to hear the sound that rigid head produces while cutting softly the air.
Soft 3d, hurricanes, funnels, all in laid back mode can do it for 10-11 minutes, lipo at the end is at 3.7 (nanotech 1300 45c, stock setup TC at 55%, YEP gov).
Normal flight time in 3d: 5 minutes(little smack).

i just looked in the polaris manual and its only 5a continuous on 6s .
looks like i might be getting a bec pro overkill too unless i can plumb it in to just 3s... hmmm.

your right tho... the 10amp castle bec wont cut it... thats only 5amp on 6s as well i think.

The BEC I'm using is only 5A continuous, and it works just fine.

Using the Polaris with Savox 0257 cyclic and 1257mg mini tail and no problems so far. I think it is a solid BEC.
