V4 RPM Output working?
I was wondering if the v4 has a correct rpm output since for the v4 60A it doesn't seem to be working with the vortex but would be very interested if it works with the 130A on any FBL system.

I can't get a 130A V4 OPTO rpm sensor to output to a Spirit Pro. So it appears that the 60A isn't alone.

There's been a lot of discussion on this in the Vortex forums. Make sure your HobbyWing ESC is on the latest firmware as they did make a change to improve FBL compatibility recently.
But on top of that it seems it may be a signal issue from the ESC, if you don't have any luck with the latest firmware you might find these threads worth a read: Hobbywing ESC issues & possible fix https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=744062 Part used for fix: https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...11#post6979711

With the HW 200 V4 and Spartan VX1n I just used a $5 HW RPM sensor. Works fine.

This morning I maidened a HW60A V4 in my TREX 450 externally governed by a MSH BRAIN. Except for a slight tail kick on startup (it's something I can live with) It worked flawlessly.

I have a HW 120A V4, with airplane mode, running external gov (i.e. Ikon). The spool up starts out at one rate, then around 900 RPM it switched to another, faster rate. This is true regardless what the spool up setting (i.e. 1, 2, & 3) I used. I settled on 2, but I don't experience extreme kick that others claim.
Also, the RPM out from the ESC works, as long as you don't split the signal to, for example, Spektrum TM1000 and the FBL. I tried, and both devices couldn't read the RPM. Took out the TM1000 from the picture, and bam! Works. |
