Default Baby Step

I strapped a Controse on my 450 and recorded some video today. That was way cool! I think I'm going to get some video TX to play some FPV. So it begins.

Thank you!

It's a stock setup so I'm still using 3S and using Turnigy 40-50C 2200mAH and Zippy 45C 2200mAH. I set my timer to 5 minutes but I usually start landing it a little after the 4 minute warning beeps on me from my DX8. When I charge the battery, it is only putting back 1100-1200mA even I have the extra camera weight on. I'll increase the timer to 6 minutes and see how it goes.

My new toys are here. It was quite difficult to find enough space to install all these little boards on the 450. My heli now reminds me of Borg!

Are you using your GoPro as the flight camera?

If so, how's the latency? I'd like to do the same, but I've heard rumors that it can be up to .5sec slower than real-time making flying a bit of a challenge.

Yes, I'm going to use the GoPro. When I was testing it while hooking it up, there are certainly delay. But I'm not sure if the delay was caused by the GoPro though. It could be just from the TX/RX system itself. Cuz I just can't see how a GoPro video output would have that much delay on it.

OMG OMG!! Just took her out and did a test run. I was so nervous trying to look at the screen instead of watching the heli like normal. Ended up I still just look up and control it a bit and take her down. My heart is pounding so hard right now. lol

I did another straight up and down hovering yesterday to an even higher altitude to make sure my 2.4Ghz Spektrum can still reach it at certain height. I know I know. Spektrum is bad for FPV, but baby steps. Baby steps.

The flight lasted six minutes and the log showed one of the sat rx losted signal at one point and the other sat rx had a little lost packets. I've relocated one of the sat today and will try to do another test tomorrow if weather is still good.

Did someone say no video or it didn't happen? Please don't laugh at my newbie video. I'm a 100% newbie in all aspects in this RC hobby.

The delay is caused due to the video feed being passed through a compression process to convert the video from the higher resolutions to the standard A/V resolution that you get via the standard output. You will always get a delay, nothing to do with your vrx/vtx. And with a heli, i would not recommend ANY delay.

GoPro latency issues were with the GoPro 1 and old firmware.... there is a tiny latency with them but nothing noticable....

i have flown 50+ FPV flights (multirotors) with gopros and 0 issues just make sure the battery is charged prior to take off

Looking good!!

I recently changed my FBL controller from SK720 to an ArduPilot Mega 2 (APM2) and having a tough time to get it to work. Still working out the bugs. But eventually, I should be able to just sit in my room and control the heli from my computer (if I want to).
