Hey everybody, new guy here
Just wanted to officially introduce myself as ....myself. anyways, I digress. just finished building the plastic 425. I have to say what a great kit. good instructions, great hardware, high quality plastics. I read so many posts and watched tons of videos from all of you guys (you know who you are) so, thank you to everyone that took the time to post their experiences, tip, tricks, etc. Was able to build everything (including radio, batteries, and charger) for under $400.00. before the Gaui i was flying the blade msr, and still do. before that was an unsuccessful attempt with a belt cp. that was about a year and a half ago. after i sold the belt cp all i could think about was trying again. I had always heard that the bigger they are the more stable they are. but a trex 500 was financially out of the question. so i was seriously looking at one of the many trex clones out there, then i found the gaui. This heli has to be one of the great secrets in the rc world. well below are the first three flights, hope you guys enjoy. remember my experience with CP helicopters is very limited.

New Gaui!
Hey TG Welcome!
You will have more fun with the Gaui than should be allowed! Very capable and easy to own and fly...you will probably wind up with several of them like I do! Keep those videos coming! That is deserving of some BACON! PT

Thanks for the bacon PT. I was getting kinda hungry. I wish i could bottle up that feeling i had after that first "flight". Can't wait to be able to practice a little more often. completely addicted.

Welcome to the Gaui family. As PT said, it is a great helicopter to own and fly. It is also pretty cheap to repair in the event of a crash. I enjoy flying all of mine.
BTW, nice smooth hovering, it only gets better as you begin to fly it around a little bit.

Congrats to the maiden flights
btw. a little tip: you can tighten the main blades more, that will give you a smoother spool-up-phase without jumping of the heli

Welcome ! Looking good, enjoy, definitely a great heli to learn and train on.Built like a tank , yet able to take whatever you can throw at it and upgradeable as far as your heart content.Parts are inexpensive and numerous upgrades make it a truly awesome machine.
They don't call it "Plastic Fantastic" for nothing! Have fun!

Was doing some hovering last night and twice the motor's Rpms jumped up like it went into idle up. I'm using the scorpion commander 60a 26v esc. I have the timing set on "auto". The esc is mated upto a helium 500 1500kv motor. Unknown number of poles. Question is, could the auto function cause an unwanted change in rpm's?

...I dont know Scorpion at all other than I have a monster motor in my parts box waiting to go on the next 550 build...CF Frame this time.
I would read up on the surgeing...Not cool to have "Surprises" when trying to fly! I use the hobbywing Platinum Pro ESC's, 80a and 100a (Non Governed...yet) PT

I also am running that same ESC (Scorpion Commander) I don't remember what nave the timing set at, but I would recommend just setting it at 15deg. That should be about midpoint and give you a pretty smooth-running motor and good power. Just check it after a flight and make sure it's not getting too hot. If it is, just back it off a little. it's easily adjusted with that remote you get with the ESC. Are you using gov, or throttle curves?

Using throttle curves. I tried every setting and the only one that gave me smooth operation, ( other than the wierd fluctuations, that I can't reproduce) is the autsomatic timing.

The 1500kv motor is not too much for the 60a esc? I have a 70 on my 1400 and a 80 going on my 1600. I have the scorpion 60 commander un-installed waiting for a motor for another project. Good luck I will follow this thread to see your results before I set up my scorp.60.

For shats and googles I checked my throttle curves...low and behold I must have bumped a button when going through my setup menus when setting my gyro gain. Soooooo, put my curves back in place and have not had anymore problems.
