The cheapest way would be to get the Long tail boom conversion kit. # G-204663.
It comes with the boom, tail control rod and 575XL belt. You would also need the larger 550 size fly bar paddles and tail blades, and of course, main blades. That is about it for parts, although you would need to change gearing for a lower head speed or buy a lower kv motor depending on what you are using now.

The Trex 600 landing gear is a nice addition also along with a 550 canopy...just adds to the size and flies different. A Castle Ice 75 for additional tunning options if desired.

Hi

Just to make sure are these the missing parts (In addition to Long tail boom conversion kit) ?
1. H550 Flybar Paddles Set (204534)
2. H550 Tail Rotor Blade Set (204554)
3. Main Rotor Blades Pack(W. 550L ) (204303)
4. I still don't have a motor but any recommendation will be great,I am using Phoenix ICE 75 Brushless ESC (http://www.heliguy.com/Extras/Electr...Brushless-ESC/).

Thanks.

The Z-power ( or Tonic-x at HeliDirect ) Z20-980kv or Z30-1100kv motors are very popular for the Hurri 550. As for the other parts, the 3 main places here in the states that I know of to get Hurri parts are, HeliFlightCenter, RCDumbthumbs, and AlleRC.

As Jerry said - go for a Z20A980 or scorpion 3026 1000, try Helidirect and Flying-Hobby

Hi,
I also got a 425: And i think I might give him bigger blades

What is the best size to begin with? keeping it 425mm or upgrading to 470mm /upgrading 500mm.
430mm and 470mm seems to be better to find good fiberglass blades ( I don't want to start with carbon fiber blades). Wood one are cheap but I am afraid to brake them often

550 mm seems a lot for me now (but I already have 550 mm upgrade parts)

It is a plastic frame 425.Does it change the max blade size. I know MSH protos blade increase is recommanded only for CF frame

I get the heli with Z20 1700Kv but I will receive a Z20 980Kv next week

I have tried my Hurris with 425mm, 475mm, 500mm and 550mm blades - my personal preference is for 500mm blades.

I used 500mm woodies for a long time and was very happy with them for hovering, circuits, loops etc. - I then found some low cost 500mm CF on HobbyKing (Z-weave) and now use them. If you crash with woodies and they break it saves the damage from possibly spreading further as it might if they don't break. However I generally find that in any crash that blades, boom, main shaft will break plus some other bits depending on the type of crash - irrelevant of the type of blades.

You can use any of the blades sizes with the plastic frame, the Z20A 980 is an excellent choice - I think that you will really enjoy flying a bigger heli

For a beginner using the Z30 1100 kV and 550mm blades I would suggest a 60T primary gear and a 15T pinion - don't just change the pinion - if you used a 15T pinion and a 42T primary you would be geared much too high

for 550mm blades you can go as low as 1800rpm HS (you possibly could go even lower) - a 15T pinion would be perfect for this with a throttle % of 80%, your friend could run the same pinion and run a 95% TC to give around 1900 or go with a 14T pinion and a 50T primary gear to take the HS up to 2100rpm (or even 2200rpm on a flat 100%). 2200 should be all that he needs on 550mm blades, but he can go higher still with a 15T pinion.

I generally fly with 500mm blades so perhaps one of the 550mm blade guys can chime in also ....

2200 RPM on 550 blades should be plenty - but make sure that you have a strong motor and high C packs.
You will of course need CF blades and CNC grips if you plan to run that HS and fly agressively.

The z30 1100Kv is a pretty powerful motor, other options might be some of the Scorpions but if you are using a plastic frame be careful... the frames flex with these more powerful motors and you will strip drive gears. You really need a CF frame is you're going for the more powerful motors (over 1500 watts).

I decided to go on the z30 1100K, with the basic 425 kit (Advanced user) which pinion and gear (If needed to replace) do i need for:
1. 500mm blades.
2. 550mm blades.
Thanks.

Default Z30 / 1100

...With that motor, I see a 15t pinion and 42t 1st. gear will give you 2499 head speed (92% efficient)
15/50 will give 2099HS
84% Efficient will be lower, 2281 / 1916
both good for the 500 / 550 blades !
