Hello from the Grand Rapids, MI crash site
Hi all,
Just wanted to introduce myself. After many years removed from flying RE planes I suddenly found myself with a little indoor heli (propel wasp) that I for some reason picked up from the store one day. Well I decided to go bigger and purchased a t-rex 450 DFC plus, which after a few days of "practicing" is in dire need of repair (but that is for another post). While I go through those motions I have a blade mcx2 in the mail. One of these days I will learn how to fly |

Hi Frippe
WInter is a great time for practice with a simulator since we cant really get outside much. I hate the sim, personally.....extreme boredom, but it can help when learning something new.
I am about 35 miles North of you, but did an online search for flying clubs around GR a couple yrs ago, and there are some, if youre interested in joining one when it gets warmer. Check them out, and find the most heli friendly one that's close by you. Having someone experienced to ask questions, or lend a hand will save you some frustration and confusion. Of course, HeliFreak has the answers to most any question too, but its sometimes easier to understand some stuff when youre talking to a real person with the heli right in front of you. The MCX2 is a tough little bugger and it flys like a bigger machine. A good learning tool that can be flown inside. In winter, i used to line my double stall garage walls and floor with blankets, rugs, and tarps when learning to fly, and never broke anything while bouncing the MCX off the walls. Winter is also a good time to fix a 450 that is in dire need of repairs. Guess we will see you around the 450 forums. |
