Default Great Planes Lancair ES - Good beginner plane?

I'm looking to get started with an airplane, and I was looking at this:

I've got a fair bit of experience with my R/C cars, and I recently took to the air with my Blade mCX. I'm going to buy RealFlight to train on during the winter before actually flying the thing. I've really never thought about an airplane before but the Lancair is just a beautiful aircraft and probably the only thing I could see myself flying. I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts regarding this bird.

NO!!! She'll tip-stall if you look at her sideways, and requires a fair bit of speed on landing. I agree she's a looker but definitely NOT for a beginner. If you absolutely MUST start with a low wing bird then I would suggest the Super Sportster. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXHMY7&P=ML In stock form the Sportster flys very slowly which will give you more time to react. When you're ready for more you can upgrade to brushless and get some great speed out of her.
I know most trainer-type planks look like ass, but you should really consider a high-wing bird for your first go. Much more forgiving and most have the tendency to self-right themselves should you get into trouble.

I bought one of those for the wifey to learn on and she loves it. It slows to a crawl so landings are a breeze.

Looking at getting one of these to fly in the spring, after a winter's worth of RealFlight training. Better?

There ya go, much better! That'll be a good one to start with and it actually looks like the real thing.

Good luck!
