Has anyone tried a different brand of motor in the 690sx yet? I would like to get a pyro 700-45L. A lower KV I guess would work best.

Using Pyro 700-34L , awesome motor in this heli, plenty of power at 1750 and 1900 rpm

I am using the Scorpion 4035-450 with 12t pinion while the burned stock motor is being serviced by Scorpion.

It's adequate but I don't know how it compares to the stock 4525-370.
It burned on the first hover and also took away the esc.
I don't know if the Scorpion 120 esc burned the motor or the other way around but both stopped working.

I'm still betting that the 4525-370 is equivalent to a 4035-500 except heavier.

11, 12, or 13T depending on what headspeed you want. My bet would be on the 13T.
