The only thing I didn't do and I don't think either of us did based on your pictures (and thanks for those, they helped a lot), was try to mount the servos inside the frame to try and get perfect vertical alignment.

But, I'm just going to fly awhile first. I lost May and June last summer trying to get a 130x to work correctly, which lead me to the 250, and this is the summer I want to fly and not wrench.

Yea, I always just put the servos on the outside of the frame now. Early in my 250 flying, well it was mainly crashing back then, I got tired of splitting the frames to replace servos. So I just mount them on the outside to make replacement easier.

Glad to hear you like the uBrain. I may get one of those for Christmas for myself. Sooner if I can find an excuse.

A gram lighter, and the wires come out the bottom, so I would not have to hack the fame to get them in (the DS245S fit , but to get them in with the wire coming out the side, required me to Dremel the frame a little bit). I think these X08s would drop right in. I may have to get a few and see.
I've been looking into this servo myself to be installed on my stretch (250mm) trex 250. Have you had a chance to try this out?

No I never did try the X08. I had doubts they would be fast enough after myxiplx pointed out they are slower then the DS245S servos.

If you try them, please post back here, I'd be interested in how they work. I still use the DS245S in one of my two 250s and like them a lot, except for the crash costs.

Thanks for the reply. I did some comparison and based on the spec it is slower. It seems like there's a typo on speed spec:

.09sec/60°@6V, .15sec/60°@6V, .18sec/60°@3.8V

I'm assuming the .09 is for 8.4V? After much debate with myself and factoring in the price and spare parts availability, I decided to go with the 245MG. I will be using this servo on my stretch 250 along with GY280 FBL unit.

Thanks for all this great info.

I tried the ds245s which are nice servos but without replacement gears, it's a servo replacement upon crash.

I got the spektrum SPMSH3050 as replacements, but haven't installed them yet. They are 12.9 grams servos with .053 speed/2.6kg-cm torque at 6v.

I did replace the ds76t on the tail with a spectrum 3060 hoping to get more torque - which seemed to improve a little. However, the tail blew up last weekend so now I'm thinking I might have had some binding.

got my KST servo installed along with zeal 255 blades. I'm hoping to get this set-up tested out this week.

Any mod. was needed to fit this Lynx 180 DFC head onto the 250 main shaft ? I mean Align 250 main shaft.

BTW, this head looks great on 250.

Thanks.

Whats the shaft (align 250 or 180cfx), swashplate and bearings are you using?

About bearings is possible to change stock align 250 (3,5x7x2,5) to 180cfx (4,0x7x2,5)....but I am not sure if 180 shaft has correct lenght and holes.

I believe you are using stock 250 shaft, swashplate and bearings....but shaft fits correctly in Lynx center hub?

This combination is very interesting......mainly if is more lightweight than original 250 Align system.

I just ordered one via ebay. It is a solid head, everything is loctited and grease in thrust bearing. I disassembled it and put it back together with grease and loctite. Head has no slop and it fits Align 250 main shaft, just a tiny bit lose (3.5mm main shaft vs 4mm hub). Once Jesus bolt is tightened down, rotor head stays on 250 main shaft, no movement at all. So this head can be used in 250, but we need to find out how good it is when comparing with Align 250 DFC head.

I would imagine that 0.5mm difference could lead to some vibration unless you can shim it somehow. You certainly feel if a mainshaft is bent by a much smaller amount.

I would only fly that if the FBL unit I was using was very tolerant to vibes.

some tips to compensate for .5mm difference. If you're unable to locate/fabricate a sleeve to take up .5mm diference a good alternative would be to use a heat shrink tubing. see pic

That tubing should take care of that problem.

Yes, the only thing I'm using is the Lynx head all else is align and yes you can change out the main bearings with the 180 and use 180 shaft swash and head. The only problem that you need to work out is the main gear and hole alignment.

Thanks for the tip. Was that what you did to compensate Align main shaft and Lynx DFC hub difference ?

Thanks.
