Default Like xmas all over again...

Opened the front door and there was a package from Todd (teshreve). Quite a score if I do say so myself.

$50 for all this stuff...(shipped)

The CNC ailerons and elevator alone are worth that much!

Woot!

Yeah, and I promptly went out and crashed today...

*&(*^(*^(*^(***%&%*!&%*&!%

New Blades (with ONE flight on them) F^%^%%~~~!!!!

2 stripped servos F$%@%$$@ (I'm just going to buy some Align 620's...not gonna play the plastic gear dick dance like I did with my belt CP before I finally bought HS-65MG's)

Bent tail boom (just installed a new one earlier today...glad they come in packs of 2)

Broken Mixer arms (which took the links to the grips with them unable to locate)

and broke the ball stud to one of my BRAND FREAKIN NEW metal blade grips.

Grant, do you have ANY idea where I can order just those ball studs? I think I can drill out the remains, but it blows having to buy 2 new grips just because of one broken stud.

I'm just hanging the sonofabitch on the wall for a while.....

Ah bummer!
Erm, If you cant remove the rest i can send you a new cnc grip if you like? I have one ready to go and one with the ball snapped off that i havnt got round to try removing yet.
If you send me your broken one i'll send you my good one

The align servos so far seem really good on mine. I'm using the 610's ( the looked nicer But loads of people are using the 620s as they are faster.

Luckily booms are cheap and the align blades dont cost a fortune.

How did you do it this time? I mmaaayyy have some cnc mixer arms on a kasama head too

Grant,

Last crash I stripped a servo gear set. When I took the servo apart, there is that one piece of the servo that seats in the output gear that is hooked to the limit switch electronic thingamajig...well, that piece that seats in the gear got slightly recessed in the crash. I pulled up on it as best as I could so that it would seat in the output gear bottom (read as...I was too cheap to replace a $29.95 servo on a $1K heli)

I was about 5 min into the battery doing some aerobatics. Loops and flips were fine, but when I went to do an aileron roll, it just looked ugly. First one I blamed on me. Second one I blamed on the wind. Third one when the heli corkscrewed into the ground I blamed on mechanical failure.

I'm so pissed. I just spent $140 to get it back in the air. New blades, brand new blade grips my wife bought me for xmas. all 3 servos are now FUBAR. tailboom is shot, canopy looks like I stepped on it. Both mixer arms short ends broke off with the linkages to the grips/ I was just sick all day yesterday. And now it sits on my wall and I don't even feel like flying anymore.

Tried to drill out that one grip and F'd it all up. Thanks for the offer though.

I'm just gonna take a break for a while and let my wallet play catchup from xmas.

Gonna put HDX600 blades on it next time (Only $44), I have a tailboom, put my plastic grips back on, got a set of mixer arms in that spares bag that dude sent me, its just those servos are gonna set me back $200 and it's going to be a while.

What is postage like to the US from here on things? I happen to have 3 futaba s3050's sitting in my room i could pass on pretty cheap if you like? Not as good as the aligns specs but i havnt damaged them in a crash yet and they flew quite nice.

Shame about why it went in Sounds like the cold weather really takes its toll on helis when they crash!

Got a pic of the blade grip?

Grant,

I have no idea what postage would be like. I am interested in the servos though if the price is right and shipping doesn't kill me.

the grip is shot...I mangled the hole for the stud. (don't laugh)

I appreciate your generosity.

Does $100 sound reasonable for the 3? Ive just checked and I dont have all of the servo horns ( i think i have a few) but i would recomend picking up a pack of these if you were to get these servos.
http://www.readyheli.com/HN6048_Alig...r_p/hn6048.htm
These are the align servo horns, really good - you get these with the align servos aswell.

I also have 3 almost full spare heads.

1 is as stock, full plastic set up. with swash
1 is as stock with metal grips ( 1 grip has the ball snapped), with swash
and 1 x Kasama head with silver quick UK swash. I have crashed this head and there are 2 bits bent. £12.50 in the UK to replace.
http://www.ziprc.com/products/arm-grips
The washout arms are the cnc from the align head on this.

Not sure if any of this is of use to you.

In all honesty, these futaba servos have served me well and i have never had problems. The specs are not as good as the align servos, but there are some guys here doing some nice 3D on them.
If you werent looking at getting the best i would say these are great, but if you never want to upgrade i would say get the aligns as so far they really have been great and can also run 8v

$100 sounds good to me.

The 600 has standard size servos right? They can be expensive.

The 500 has mini servos (Not micro like 450) and they cost like £25 - £30 each. That's £90 which is like $130. And they are mini so standard servos are like $200 - $250 all together. Probably more.

Thats for cheap servo's, the new JR 8717 HV's are $200 each!!!!!!
The aligns have proven to be just as good. Even the true speed tests are proven to be the same lol.

Grant,

See if you can find out what shipping would be to Watertown, NY 13601.

$100 is a very fair price. But is shipping is going to be over $25 or so, I'd have to pass.

thanks Grant...I appreciate it.

PS.. I already have the futaba round servo horns
