Default Newbie looking for build help for 500L

Hello Heli peoples.
I have just starting building a TREX 500L. This is my very first heli effort. I have found a lot of videos and pics for the various older 500 class heli’s but nothing for a 500L. And the 500L is so different that the stuff I am digging up is not really helping. I searched the other heli sites that I know of and tried google as well. I am finding no love. I thought I would run this out to the list and see if someone knows the secret site for 500L.
I am anxious to get this puppy built so I can start buying parts for it lol
Thanks for any help. Happy Holidays. Good flying.

I found a "500L Build Photo Video" on YouTube that may help get you started. Is there anything specific that you have questions about?

Use the 550l video ... Is almost the same ... That's the one I used , and the 500 video for some specific details like rotor head... Those along with manual will be more than enough.

Then if you need help pm me

Every on on this site has been in your same position. We are all more than willing to help. I recently bought an align 500 dominator also, and have watched a few of the youtube videos on the build. Although I do not yet have experience with the 500l, I'm definitely willing to help any way I can. Have fun with the build!

Some people have been having problems with their motor mount being too close to the main gear. I'm posting this question here, so it can help all of us newbs out. How tight is too tight when it comes to meshing?

Also, rchelicopterfun.com was a great resource to me, in addition to this forum.
I recommend the CP helicopter setup e-book and watching finless bob videos here:

You want to have just a tiny bit of play between the teeth in your gears. About 0.2-0.3mm, and that's just eye-balling it. Most gears are slightly out of round, so you need to find the point with the tightest fit, and that's where you set your mesh.
