I think 550 would be a bit much wouldn't it?
Maybe stretch out to use 500mm blades instead of the hard to find 470mm blades?

This is exactly what I wanted to say... .-)
A stretch kit in order to use 500mm blades.

Let's wait and see if that is possible.

I would like to see it but even that might be a bit of a stretch ->

I'd buy two!

I'd ask that the original non stretched booms and belt don't go away. My heli is just about right as it is and I have a case that it just fits in.

I wouldn't ask that standard length go away either because not everyone wants to stretch it.

+1

I like the Protos at it's original size with the wide selection and availability of main blades.

I also think the stock motor would be hard pressed to provide reliable, consistent power when stretching to 500 or larger mains.

If I want more float and presence I simply fly my 600.

That makes sense, if stretching to 500mm blades, a motor should be designed, or at least refitted with a longer shaft to accommodate the Protos pinion adapter to provide the reliable power needed for that length blade.

It's not simply issues with the shaft, but torque and power in general. For example, the Scorpion motor (HK-4015-1100) recommended for the Goblin 500 is 10.5 mm larger in diameter and outputs 550 more watts than the stock MSH Scorpion motor.

If you keep increasing the blade size you have to upgrade the power system at some point.

By refit an existing motor, I just meant find a more powerful motor that would fit in the frames will little to no mods needed and put a longer shaft in it.

+1

With a resurgence of interest in the Protos 500 and with the release of the Mini and Now the Maxi... I do not see MSH going anywhere imho. I believe the next logical step for MSH is to release a 600/550 designed off the Maxi frame which could happen.

One last thing.. I have enjoyed my Protos and I always get compliments about the heli at the airfield.

Great Job MSH!

Default I have 7 Protos 500 -

So, I will be buying parts and more parts. Just make it easy and cost effective to get them because I think the 500 is the right size. Not too big not too small. Have a partnership with a company that can knock out good quality aftermarket parts at reasonable prices and the heli will live for ever. It is THAT Good!!
