I think you need to reread the post I wrote on the new member section. Don't exceed your capability. It sounds like you got impatient and thought you could fly this thing right out of the box. Isn't gonna happen like that! You need to crawl before you walk. You've got the sim, practice. Need help with your radio, ask questions about it. Do you have training gear for your heli? If not get some. The worst thing you can do now is to get discouraged by all this. Take a deep breath and regroup! Check out the flight school section and anything else that will help you.As far as repairing your heli, there are many fine members on here that can help you. I built all of my bigger helis from kits, so I'm very familiar as to how they go back together. I feel sad for the fella that runs to the LHS everytime he tears his heli up because he has no clue how to fix it. It's not rocket science! Don't get frustrated and give up. Flying helis takes time. Some learn faster than others. Good luck. Dale

Well, you have learnt something at least. It's not that easy.

"I can't even hover." - That's OK, it took me about two weeks of an hour a night, every night, before I could say "I can hover". And that's engine turning time, which excludes all the reading, setting up, head-scratching etc.

Probably the best bit of advice you could use right now is the quickest way to learn how to fly an RC heli is to go slowly.

I certainly wouldn't scrap it, but with all of the micro-sized helis available today, I would get one of those and start learning the basics. And/or a sim. While you are fworking on that, read the books as noted above, and watch all of the (Finless) videos you can to learn setup, etc.

This is a demanding hobby, but also a heckuva lot of fun!

Default Hello I'm Ron

Unfortunately you made a mistake! We all make them. You will not have any problem taking the helicopter apart and repairing it, The best thing you can do though is set it aside for a few days and catch your breath! In a few days when you feel the time is right, I will help you fix your helicopter. That's the easy part. Just find a safe place to set it where you cannot see it for about a week. In the mean time.

Can you tell me what simulator you have?
Take a look at all the helicopters in the simulator and find one with training gear on it.
I'd like to help you get flying the simulator ASAP.
If you have a large screen HD TV you can hook the computer to it and use the simulator on the TV. It's a lot nicer than a computer monitor. You can see much better!

Have you ever had or flown a coaxial or fixed pitch helicopter?

I take it you have a DX6i that came with the B450 right?

The link below will give you a little information new helicopter pilots need to know about there helicopters and how they fly.

https://www.helifreak.com/showthread...81#post3854881

Looking forward to hearing from you, if you would like to PM me I will do all I can to get you
safely flying your Helicopter but it's going to take a little time.
Ron

In January of this year I was exactly in the same position you are now. It was overwhelming. I too started with the Blade 450 3d thinking i would be able to at least hover it right away because I had a lot of R/C airplane experience years ago. Wow, was I wrong!!

Don't give up!!! Once I learned to hover, it became more and more fun. You will crash multiple times, but everything that breaks can be replaced. Replacing those broken pieces will also be overwhelming, but you will learn how fairly quickly.

A simulator will probably be your biggest help (and the cheapest), along with finding someone to help you. If you have a Hobby Shop close by, go there and ask lots of questions.

If you PM me, Ill send you my cell phone number. You can call me and I'll be able to help you somewhat. I'm still learning too.

Keep the 450 but consider adding an mcpx to your fleet- it will give you the skills and confidence to fly the 450 without the worries of crash damage- it's a very durable and forgiving micro helicopter but big on performance, and probably one of the best real world simulators.

+1 on Blade MCPX. It's cheap, flys just like the 450 and costs virtually nothing when you crash it on the grass. Best investment I've ever made. I had a 450 and did the same thing you did. Now that I've replaced half the helicopter, I can now hover it with training gear on. So now I practice tail out and nose in hovering on MCPX, and hit the simualator for 30 mins to an hour each night, perfecting techniques before I even think of trying it with the 450. The MCPX is almost like a real life simulator for flying.

fully agree with getting the mCPx but would like to add the idea of rebuilding your 450 as an FBL. After flying my mCPx for a while, I built a Gaui X2 which is FBL. I flew it bunch with no problems. Then I flew the 450 3D. It seemed to crash inexplicably with a little wind. I rebuilt it stock but did not enjoy the complexity of dealing with the fly bar head. I crashed it a second time again without any obvious cause other than some wind catching the paddles. The second time around, I repaired and rebuilt it FBL. I used the tarrot head and replaced the receiver and gyro with the AR7200BX. Now it flies so much better and no weird crash issues. I have been flipping and rolling it also.
