Default Tail bounce back, where to start?

Just hovering when giving left rudder it responds crisp and snaps to a stop. Right rudder responds fine stops quick but then comes back 15 degrees. No matter how slight or hard the input it comes back 15 degrees. No idea where to start, not to familiar with anything beyond basic set up. Hooked it up to pc and turned up roll rates a little but thats the only pc adjustment I've done. Tail slider moves if you blow on it.

Version 5.0 on an all stock 450L 6s, DX7s gyro gain in tx 33%

Thanks for your thoughts

Make syre you have a few degres against tourqe when setting up the tail.
When the servo is at 90 u adjust the pushrod to achieve this. Like setting up rate mode. I do believe its in the manual.

Its on page 19 in the manual. When u fold the tailblades there should be a 4mm gap.

Yea, I think I know what you mean. When servo is at 90 centered the tail fin tips folded should be 1/2" apart. Is that the setup you are referring to?

Mine did the same thing, you have to get the heli to hold the tail in Rate mode by lengthening or shortening the rudder control rod. then when you put it in HH mode it will not snap back like that.

Ok thanks flihi, I already did the set up as described above. I'll look into your advice on rate mode and heading hold. I'm not certain how to do that. Isn't it just settings in your tx if above a certain value or under its heading hold or rate mode? With a dx7s I recall 50 being the switching point. Getting end points set up my first time on the tail made my hair turn grey.

Thanks for the video

The Freddy can fly video's were priceless but they didn't cover the tail set up well. Can this link and the Freddy can fly ones be a sticky? Align should kick them a couple kits for helping save the reputation of the 3gx. I likely would have been ticked off and bought a vbar with out Freddy.

The manual for 3GX is a bit short on the tail setup.
They dont say it out loud that u need to setup in ratemode before u switch to HH mode. They just give u a picture of the tailblades having a few degress pitch against tourqe wich for me is the same as ratemode. But if u are new to the hobby u might not even know what ratemode is since most gyros today can be setup in HH from start.

That's me, this was my first build/ flybarless set up. I spent hours reading and researching what to do before I even got my kit last december.

I'm not sure about Rate mode in Spektrum. you'd have to refer to your manual or someone else might answer that.

I wonder if their new gyro can be set up using just the pc? I mean really, you can connect it to the set up software. Why not allow you to do the entire set up with it? The blinking lights on my 3gx that's upside down are a pain. And it times out if your not quick enough

The rudder delay settings don't stick when you push set button to continue! To get it at zero you have to let it time out or it jumps to 30. Never knew you needed to watch the pc while you do it. Thanks guys

Now to go fly it

Default solved!

Went into my LHS and they said for spektrum I have to go to a negative number to go into rate mode. I was at 33.5 for HH gyro gain on tx. I went to negative 33.5 and adjusted tail rod to keep it from doing a pirouette. Adjusted end points. Then went back to positive 33.5 and the tail is crisp and stops as expected.

The Spektrum and Align manuals didn't cover this.

Thanks for your time guys
