Default Bad 72mhz crystal

Ok, i realize I'm probably still flying in the stone age with 72mhz, but I purchased a new crystal to change the freq. of a plank of mine. Long story short, put it in the RX, and nothing, no response whatsoever. I changed models and tried another one of my planks on the same freq and all worked well. I pulled one of their crystals out and put it in the other plane, and it worked fine. I even put the 'defective' crystal into other planks and no response with it in. So from my scientific deduction, I am thinking the crystal is defective. Ordered it from tower and they told me to contact futaba hobby services on monday morning. I'm just wondering if anyone else has dealt with them and if they'd even replace my crystal with a new one.
